HOUSING

Personal assessment
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why? The main goal of my Erasmus was to get to know new cultures meeting people from other countries. I think that a student house is the best way to do it.
Personal comments:
Everything was very well organized. I just needed to apply quite early (April 2005) for an accomodation and the university took care of all the rest. At arrival day I just had to pick up the keys and I was taken to the my appartement by the university mentors. Scandinavian people are very well organized in life in general. Personal social experience
Describe host city: Student life dominates the city
Activities, Nightlife, Travel: Takes place mostly within the university/student environment Personal comments:
the student nations are absolutely fabulous places to go out to! Nice student atmosphere and affordable beer prices! Västgöta Nation offers free entrance to members. For travelers: Stockholm is a most wonderful city and the best traveling experience I had in Sweden was my trip up north, to Kiruna. Did some dogsledding and Northern Lights watching... Amazing! My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
The are a lot of courses in English in the Economics School (Ekonomicentrum) in subjects related to Computer Sciences or Informatics. Perfect for Erasmus students.
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
It could be difficult to interact with the Swedish students, also because there are a lot of exchange students in Lund. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: Swedish
Was learning Swedish a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my Swedish How much did you improve your Swedish?
My level before: Everyday knowledge (shopping, directions, etc.) My level after: No problems in any areas (including slang) Personal comments:
Although the swedish spoken in south of Swden (skåne) differs from swedish spoken in Finland or in Stockholm (capital) area , once you get used to the intonation and to the rhythm you pick up the languae very easily. Language used i by professors is easy to understand , and everyone will modify their pronounciation to make it easier for foreigners. Overall knowledge of english is excellent, like in most scandinavian countries. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

The accessibility of student needs
Main source of funding:
Government assistance Other sources of funding:
None Work opportunities:
It was not legal for me to work Personal spending habits:
It simply the cost of living there that differs in some areas. Food, Telephone: was more expensive than at home. Overall: was the same price as at home. Travel, Nightlife, Housing: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
The most cost-saving tip i can give is try to talk to students that were there the semester before, because there is a huge chance that they have second hand stuff that are really useful. Also, go to Tiger. Really the best student/cheap store ever! This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
I can recommend Lunds Universitet to everybody, because everything is good arranged for International Students, the courses was very good taken care of and the University buildings are really beautiful!! it works on your imagination! FINAL COMMENTS
Final Comments: Scandinavia offers you beautiful nature and wilderness! When you study in Lund you have the opportunity to see a lot of it and I can recommend it to everybody. I travelled a lot in Scandinavia and have seen beautiful things. One final tip for this, take the train to stockholm visit the city a couple of days and go from there to helsinki by boat. Not very far from Helsinki is Talinn situated and this city is worth taking a look! Travelling by boat saves you money for hostels (night boats) and is a nice experience!
