Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why? It was great that the university was so close.
Personal comments:
Whitworth Park was nice, the flats were ok and we had a bar, squash courts, a fitness room, a laundry...

ACADEMIC
by Nadia, Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien, Vienna, Austria
Marketing and Sales Management, Erasmus
My academic experiences
Quality of courses
KEY:
Fantastic.
Pretty good.
Could've been a bit better.
Disappointing.
Variety of courses
Availability/access to resources
Interaction with teachers
Interaction with other international students
Interaction with local students
Course recommendations:
Some teachers should pay more attention to the international students in case they can't follow the pace of the lecture

My opinion of the university assessment
Exams at end of course
KEY:
Liked it.
It was alright.
A bit annoying.
Didn't like it.
Exams throughout the course
Essays and/or projects at the end of course.
Essays and/or projects throughout the course
Overall
Personal comments:
the online learning platform of the Manchester Business School (WebCT)should be up-to-date, because some courses lacked every information

by Julia, Universität Innsbruck, Innsbruck, Austria
Business Studies, Erasmus
Language difficulties
Social
KEY:
No problems.
I coped pretty well.
Sometimes it was difficult.
It was a constant struggle.
Educational
Administrative / Institutional
Overall
Language of instruction: English
Was learning English a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't.
How much did you improve your English?
My level before: At ease in most situations
My level after: No problems in any areas (including slang)
Personal comments:
There was a big mix of students in Manchester - from all over the UK. You get used to a lot of slangs. It is important to stay a way from people who speek your own language because you easily find yourself speakting (in my case) German. Get yourself involved in a sport team or another social team where there are hardly any internationals - that is important!!

because at home i live with my parents so i don't have to pay for acommodation or food whereas these were the main expenses abroad
Food, Travel, Nightlife, Overall, Housing: was more expensive than at home.
Telephone: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
The University of Manchester still requires students abroad to pay the prepayment for the hall of residence per cheque which is quite expensive abd oldfashioned in Austria
