HOUSING
by Judit, Universität Wien, Vienna, Austria
Financial Management, Erasmus
Personal assessment
Type of housing: private student hall
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? Because you get more in touch with British people when you live in a shared house and you have a better control over your extra costs (i.e. electricity).
Personal comments:
The location and the rooms are great and I am also very lucky with my flatmates. Apart from the fact that we receive a terrible electricity bill every month, the service is quite good and the staff is really friendly. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

ACADEMIC

My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
Choose whatever you like, it opens your mind a little bit and helps to improve your English, but unfortunately most of the courses don't count at all in Germany.
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
Well, it would be very nice to be able to do courses that take you further in your studies in general and not only specifically in England. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: English
Was learning English a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my English How much did you improve your English?
My level before: At ease in most situations My level after: No problems in any areas (including slang) Personal comments:
I am a very talkative person and you have to be to improve your language if you stay in England, because the majority of English people are quite reserved. I did two courses at a local language college what helped me a lot to improve my level of English. I recommend this to anyone who has enough time and motivation to do this. EXPENSES
by Claudia, Karl Franzens Universität Graz, Graz, Austria
Literature, Erasmus
The accessibility of student needs
Main source of funding:
An ERASMUS grant Other sources of funding:
Family Personal savings Government assistance Work opportunities:
I didn't explore any work options Personal spending habits:
The prices for housing are higher than back home in Graz, and I had a worse room in a worse area for more money than back home in Austria. When going to clubs in England, you usually have to pay to get in. Drinks can often be cheap, on student nights especially. However, mind how you get back home. I usually took a cab to get back, Manchester's not safe, so I preferred spending money for cabs rather than being attacked on the streets.. Travel, Nightlife, Overall, Housing: was more expensive than at home. Food, Telephone: was the same price as at home.
Personal comments:
Watch out for flyers to get into the clubs for little money, watch out for announcements in the papers, watch out for offers in the supermarkets! :-) This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
