Personal social experience
Personal comments
My favourite nightclub is Tiger Tiger which is mainly for people who love rnb and a oriental decoration. I can also recommend Matts and Phreds which is a great Jazz-Club with live music. Don't miss the clubs on the Canal Street and especially around the universities.

Housing
Type of housing: private student hall
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
Because you get more in touch with British people when you live in a shared house and you have a better control over your extra costs (i.e. electricity).

Personal comments
The location and the rooms are great and I am also very lucky with my flatmates. Apart from the fact that we receive a terrible electricity bill every month, the service is quite good and the staff is really friendly.

You get used quite quickly to the British English, the most important thing is to meet with a lot of British people, watch local TV and especially listen to the radio.

Overall
I wish I had known...

In my opinion:
Everybody loved it, you will too!
Important factors in my choice
(1) Unimportant – (4) Very important
Personal recommendation
Choose your courses very carefully, make use of the career service and become a member of the sport clubs (I was a member of the hiking club and we went for beautiful walks in Wales, the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales. It was really amazing!!).

During my experience abroad, I ...
(1) Never – (4) A lot
Became familiar with another culture
Met people from other countries
Experienced a change in life
Advanced my studies & career
Final comments
The most important thing is to integrate youself actively and make most of your stay by studying hard, enjoying life and travelling. Take always your dictionary with you and use all types of media to develop your language knowledge. If you travel around, don't miss Edinburgh, York, Bath, Chester and London of course. And it's also very important to stay in groups when you walk home in the middle of the night, because otherwise it's quite dangerous (especially for a woman).
