HOUSING
Personal assessment
Type of housing: sublet, lived with three guys together
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose:
Why? At McGill there isn't ant on-campus housing offered for exchange-students, so subletting a room is the best way to come in contact with local people.

STUDENT LIFE
Personal social experience
Describe host city: Students equally interact with the local and student community
Activities, Travel: Takes place mostly within the university/student environment Nightlife: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment Personal comments:
I'm still here for two weeks, but till now i really enjoyed the thompson house at Mcgill and some of the bars at Saint-Laurent. This is one long street were a lot of bars and clubs are located. Besides this, eating in St-Denis in one of the bring-your-own-wine is really fun. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

ACADEMIC
My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
Not really
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
I couldn't answer question 3 proper, because I'm still right in the middle of the exchange. But I must say that I like the essays and projects during the courses. The same is true for the exams. I think that students are more focused when exams and essays are given during the course instead of at the end This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: English
Was learning English a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my English How much did you improve your English?
My level before: No problems in any areas (including slang) My level after: No problems in any areas (including slang) Personal comments:
Montreal is part of Quebec. The people in Montreal speak French, but in another way then I have learned. It's more of a dialect, that in my opinion doesn't sounds as nice as the 'proper' utilisation of the french language. I really want to improve my language skills in French, so when I get the change I try to speak French with a local. Besides this, I followed for 7 weeks a intensive language course, and from 14-3 I'll start a communication course. Both in French of course, at an institute called YMCA. Before departure I already followed classes in english. I can honestly say that I control this language. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

EXPENSES
The accessibility of student needs
Main source of funding:
Personal savings Other sources of funding:
None Work opportunities:
It was not legal for me to work Personal spending habits:
When your on an exchange you want to discover the city, and the nice places by which it is surrounded. I visited for example New York, Quebec City and Toronto. At the end of March I'll probably also visit Ottowa and Toronto. And for the higher nightlife expenses. Montreal really has a lot to offer. Travel, Nightlife, Overall: was more expensive than at home. Food, Telephone, Housing: was the same price as at home.
