HOUSING

Personal assessment
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why? It was very nice living there with all my fellows. The neighbourhood was very nice. And it was the cheapest way of living there although my schoolaship wasn´t enough to pay it.
Personal comments:
When I arrived I already had a house because the university found one for me, and this was pretty nice. It was very nice to live with all my fellows arround like a big family. There were some students organizations close to us willing to entertain us. The only bad thing were my flat mates, realy weir people, but I managed and I could have changed if I wanted. STUDENT LIFE

Environmental Sciences, Erasmus
Personal social experience
Describe host city: Student life dominates the city
Activities, Nightlife, Travel: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment Personal comments:
Studentersamfundet. It´s a whole building managed by students with a bar, pub, disco where almost every weekend there is a concert. Downtown and Harveys are two nice pubs with free entrace. TigerTiger is a very funny disco-pub to go, but you have to pay to get inside. Chokoboko is a lovely cafe to go close to the old bridge. And Mormors it´s the cheapest place to have a beer in the evenings, they have also coffes and it´s a very nice place to go. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

ACADEMIC

My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
Take care, because all the courses are not in english. Some of them are in norwegian. Normally if you ask the teacher to speak in english they don´t have any problem, but is better to make sure before registering in the courses.
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
Maybe, not to be so strict with the exam dates. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: English
Local language was: Different than language of instruction.
Was learning English a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't. Was learning the local language a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my knowledge How much did you improve your English?
My level before: At ease in most situations My level after: No problems in any areas (including slang) How much did you improve your local language?
My level before: Did not speak it My level after: Basic phrases Personal comments:
The reason to choose norway attended to academic matter rather than local language improvement. As everybody there speaks english it wasn't a problem to communicate but at the same time made it more difficult to learn norwegian. I arrived pretty late to start any course as well, so in the end it was a pitty that i wasn't able to learn it, just some phrases, technic language related to my studies and very basic gramatic rules This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Environmental Sciences, Erasmus
The accessibility of student needs
Main source of funding:
Family Other sources of funding:
An ERASMUS grant Work opportunities:
I didn't explore any work options Personal spending habits:
Food and nightlife and traveling where extreamly expensive in Norway because they taxation policy. The housing was ok because it was subsidized by the university. Also it was free to call from a student house to another and I was carefull with international calls Food, Travel, Nightlife, Overall: was more expensive than at home. Housing: was the same price as at home. Telephone: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
There were some tax-free shops. And also some student discounts in buses or books... And we had IKEA so the forniture and stuff like that wasn´t really a problem. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
Well, I was really stressed before going to Norway. And now I know it wasn´t really a reason to be worried about. At the end everything works. In my opinion:
Most people loved it.
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
I think is a very nice and special place to sepend one year of anybodies life. FINAL COMMENTS
For me Norway was the discovery of a different and lovely way of life in constant contact with nature and peace. Nature there is so amazing. I´ll recommend everybody to do many cabin trips there. And also to visit the studenterhytta. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
