Pretty good.
Could've been better, but didn't lessen the overall experience.
Disappointing.

Type of housing: Student dorm
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: With a family
Why? In the student dorm we spoke a lot in english and as I was in Russia this didn't help my russian much. Nevertheless I had the opportunity through friends from my church there to speak Russian and to improve it to quite a satisfactory extend.
Personal comments:
Housng was student dorm like. We had no Internet neither in the rooms nor in the dorm. But it proved to be not such essential as it probably would be in Vienna. We dwelled in double rooms. there were about 40 students coocking in one kitchen which was also student dorm alike. All in all I enjoyed living there.

Personal social experience
Activities
KEY:
Amazing! Hardly had time to study.
Plenty to do when I had the time.
So-so.
Did not get involved.
Nightlife
Travel
Overall
Describe host city: Students equally interact with the local and student community
Activities, Nightlife, Travel: Takes place mostly outside the university/student environment
Personal comments:
I enjoyed most meeting with my friends from the International christian assembly of Moscow (25-30) nations and haging out with them. The places to go probably contain Hard Rock Cafe, Jet Set,... . Cafes are not so wide spread.

Personal comments:
Get the information on time, you always were running after the facts, although the Russians already knew it, the internationals did not. That was the hardest part of the study program.

My level before: Everyday knowledge (shopping, directions, etc.)
My level after: At ease in most situations
Personal comments:
Before coming to Moscow I felt inhibited in speaking Russian, but with the time, I improved my Russian and were not afraid to talk to people. Because in the dormitary there are only foreign students, we speak English all the time. This also helps me to improve my English.

I wish I had known...
Well, I did not have any specific imaginations about how it is gonna be like. So, I can not tell exactly. Probably that the level of language skill could have been higher in order to be able to take better advantage of the environment.
In my opinion:
I loved it but I'm not sure everybody would.

During my experience abroad, I ...
Became familiar with another culture
KEY:
Happened all the time.
Happened quite a lot.
Happened a bit.
Didn't happen.
Traveled
Improved language skills
Met people from other countries
Became more independent
Partied a lot
Experienced a change in life
Advanced my studies/career
Personal recommendation:
Modernisation. I think that they try hard but still lack knowledge concerning administration and how to make them efficient.

FINAL COMMENTS

Well, concerning travelling I can recommend to do a trip to Petersburg and to feel the difference between Moscow and Petersburg. Also in summer Irkutsk is nice to visit although colleges also visited the town in december where it was quite cold. In case of deseases make sure you know where the western hospitals are to be found in Moscow. If anyone looking for an international church and gospel music, you are welcomed to contact me.
