HOUSING

Personal assessment
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? Living in the "ghetto" was a great experience. You are fairly close to campus and you have the opportunity to meet a lot of students.
Personal comments:
In general, the university residences are good. West Campus is about a 10 minute walk from main campus, but other than that all of the rez's are very close. However, as an international student it is best to search the International Housing website and find new and interesting housemates. The people that live in rezs are mainly first year students and there is not a lot of diversity within that group. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

STUDENT LIFE

Personal social experience
Describe host city: Student life dominates the city
Activities, Nightlife, Travel: Takes place mostly within the university/student environment Personal comments:
The Grad Club!!!!! Not to be missed. Also, the TirNaNog, Alfies, and the QP are good fun. Stages, AJs and the Cocomo are mainly for grinding and picking up. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
Quality of education is amazing. #1 MBA ranking in world outside US says it all.
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
Many students thought the workload was quite high because it is evenly distributed throughout the semester, which often comes as a shock to europeans. I didn't think it was much more than at home. Teaching much more practical than use to in Europe where things tends to be a bit dry and theoretical. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: English
Was learning English a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't. How much did you improve your English?
My level before: At ease in most situations My level after: No problems in any areas (including slang) Personal comments:
Sometimes i had troubles with writing an essay...but there is writing center where you can make an appointment and someone will go over your work and correct it. There are also different classes that you can take on your own time in order to improve your language skills. Sometimes i also had problems communicating with Canadians....at first it was much easier for me to hang out with international students...they were more open i guess and did not care if i made any mistakes while talking. But after a year i was comfortable among canadians as well. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

The accessibility of student needs
Main source of funding:
Personal savings Other sources of funding:
Government assistance Work opportunities:
I worked during my study abroad experience Personal spending habits:
Just in general the prices in Canada are higher than in my home country. However it is possible to save up by not eating out or going out every day. Telephone, Housing: was more expensive than at home. Food, Travel, Nightlife, Overall: was the same price as at home.
Personal comments:
There are a lot of opt-outs that you can do and it'll save you about $200-$300. Just check Q-card for it in the finantial information. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
canada is very cold compared to france! In my opinion:
Most people loved it.
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
go for it! the international students are really welcomed and there is a very important international community, so it's a nice opportunity to have fun and meet people from everywhere! FINAL COMMENTS
For accomodation: try to live at the "science 44 coop", where most exchange students stay. It's cheap and really fun! it's independent from uni but ask the queen's international center about it. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
