Personal assessment

KEY:
Couldn't have asked for more.
Pretty good.
Could've been better, but didn't lessen the overall experience.
Disappointing.

Cleanliness

Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Home university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? I lived in a dorm with French and international, mostly Erasmus, students. It was a great fun, social experience, although sometimes it was hard to find a quiet space. The town is away from the university and has some very cool apartments.
Personal comments:
First they sent us to a dorm that was kind of rund down but after a couple of weeks we got a recently renovated dorm that was very clean and had good facilities.

KEY:
Amazing! Hardly had time to study.
Plenty to do when I had the time.
So-so.
Did not get involved.
Nightlife
Travel
Overall
Describe host city: Student life dominates the city
Nightlife: Takes place mostly within the university/student environment
Travel: Takes place mostly outside the university/student environment
Activities: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment
Personal comments:
There's always a party. People go out every single night, so you'll always have somebody to go with. The school organizes a lot of events, especially parties. Most clubs play Euro dance and that's something I didn't really like. Otherwise, Velvet is a good one, Emporium, Bayou... The Underground is popular for karaoke. As for bars, O'Kallaghans is good, and there are several English / Scottish pubs along the river.

My academic experiences
Quality of courses
KEY:
Fantastic.
Pretty good.
Could've been a bit better.
Disappointing.
Variety of courses
Availability/access to resources
Interaction with teachers
Interaction with other international students
Interaction with local students
Course recommendations:
FLAME courses pretty easy in English and French. Business Graduate easy but a lot of work and quite unorganised (French Style). Dominante "Marketing Produit" seems to be the most interesting and the one with the best equity work/leisure time.

My opinion of the university assessment
Exams at end of course
KEY:
Liked it.
It was alright.
A bit annoying.
Didn't like it.
Exams throughout the course
Essays and/or projects at the end of course.
Essays and/or projects throughout the course

KEY:
No problems.
I coped pretty well.
Sometimes it was difficult.
It was a constant struggle.
Educational
Administrative / Institutional
Overall
Language of instruction: French
Was learning French a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my French
How much did you improve your French?
My level before: Everyday knowledge (shopping, directions, etc.)
My level after: No problems in any areas (including slang)
Personal comments:
Given that I went twice as an exchange student to the same university, the first time was very challenging to master my French because I was usually interacting with other international students. The second time I went was provided me a very intense French-language experience for both social and academic contexts.

Personal recommendation:
It's a great way to take a vacation from your home university. If you want to travel and meet lots of great people come to Rouen.

FINAL COMMENTS

Rouen has a perfect location for travel. It's 1 hour away from paris and you can get tons of cheap flights from there. Check www.ryanair.com for deals. Get a 12-25 card to save 50% on train travel thorughout France. I had an amazing time in Rouen. I can't belive it's actually over. I learned so much about myself and about the world during my exchange. Most of my learning happened outside of the class room. If you're looking for an eye opening experience then come to Rouen and get a little taste of what France has to offer.
