HOUSING

Personal assessment
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why? Because the rooms are cheaper and you get to know people from a number of different cultures.
Personal comments:
Starting from the point that i come from Macedonia the prices in Sweden were high for me; even though the housing price was not too high and not too low. I lived in a dorm in Kista. A good thing for the location of the dorms was that one of the campuses are located on a walking distance from the dorm but if you have classes in other campuses of KTH you would have to go by metro or train. STUDENT LIFE
by Raquel, Universidad de Zaragoza, Zaragoza, Spain
Telecommunications, Erasmus
Personal social experience
Describe host city: Students equally interact with the local and student community
Activities, Nightlife, Travel: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment Personal comments:
One of the bestr cafes: LAVA, at Segelstorg. The cafes in Djurgarden and Gamla Stan are compulsory as well. Night life: the money is the main problem. Very posh and expensive in Stureplan, but it's worth going there at least once. The cheapest: Götgatan. Event: middsummer, Sankta Lucia, Sweden's day, the spring arrival party. My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
Some courses are in Swedish and some are in English. Be sure what you want before you choose.
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
I did the master's thesis of my degree there, and I didn't take any course. I did it in a very international department where I got a lot of support and help. My friends taking courses liked it. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Was learning English a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my English Was learning Swedish a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my Swedish How much did you improve your English?
My level before: No problems in any areas (including slang) My level after: No problems in any areas (including slang) How much did you improve your Swedish?
My level before: Did not speak it My level after: Everyday knowledge (shopping, directions, etc.) Personal comments:
The host university was very receptive to their foreign students and I was at rather ease with everything. However, there was a constant learning of habits and attitudes of the people around me that made the experience so enthralling. Understanding people and their different social customs and how to adapt accordingly was my biggest gains in studying in a foreign location. Main source of funding:
Family Other sources of funding:
An ERASMUS grant Work opportunities:
I didn't explore any work options Personal spending habits:
Cause Sweden is an expensive country if one is not earning money there. What would You do it You had a 200Euro grant per month?? My appartment was 2500 SEK per month, so the grant was not even enough for this. Plus 500 SEK per month for public transport ticket... and food and stuff ... Let's face it, Sweden is an expensive country, especially Stockholm. This unfortunately is caused by the grant, which was THE SAME wherever one went - which is plain STUPID!!!! A friend of mine who had the choice between Italy and Sweden chose Italy, for obvious reasons! :-) ok it was a relief to write that ;-) thank You Food, Travel, Nightlife, Overall, Housing: was more expensive than at home. Telephone: was the same price as at home.
Personal comments:
Cost-saving?? Well, buy food at bigger stores ;-))) This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
I wish i had started learning Swedish before going to Sweden, because of the reason that the chances to find work are higher if you know Swedish. In my opinion:
Everybody loved it, you will too!
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
Regarding the academic issues i have no remarks. I would only say that its better if students are housed in dorms taht are near their campuses so they wont have to travel a lot. FINAL COMMENTS
I gained a lot of personal and academic experience in Sweden and KTH. The classes are organized in a way that if you attend them regularly and pay attention you will have time to study and have fun as well (including traveling). The teachers are all very polite and always prepare to help. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
