Eve, if Stoke is a little city, the good point is that Manchester and Birmingham are not far and you can travel around in order to see something different. But you need money for that.. Read Review

Language of instruction: English
Was learning English a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my English
How much did you improve your English?
My level before: Everyday knowledge (shopping, directions, etc.)
My level after: At ease in most situations
Personal comments:
At the beginning, I found it pretty hard to understand the courses and I had difficulties during the lectures. For my social life it was pretty OK. I was living with some english and at the begining, they were talking slowly in order to make me understand. With time, everything was Ok and I really improved my english.

Personal comments:
yeah comiming a month ahead of the beginning of the course, just rose the budget share dedicated to housing> I had to work to cope. Otherwise, having the low ocst coach and a few airport in the surroundings, just help if you want to travel for cheap using Ryan air, esayjet and megabus, to discover Scotland or Italy.

I wish I had known...
the living habits of the local inhabitants. the facts that the shopping center shuts at 5 pm
In my opinion:
Most people loved it.

During my experience abroad, I ...
Became familiar with another culture
KEY:
Happened all the time.
Happened quite a lot.
Happened a bit.
Didn't happen.
Traveled
Improved language skills
Met people from other countries
Became more independent
Partied a lot
Experienced a change in life
Advanced my studies/career
Personal recommendation:
Be prepared to fit in. Try to work hard as well. Your stay might be short, but still take the most of the local resources to start com;pleting your assignments and dissetation. Otherwise, be prepared finacially. Good way to get to know the area working through the uni temp agency

FINAL COMMENTS

If yuo drive. Just bring your car> the city is quite dead. you need a car to go shopping in asda for Food. The City center is 30mn by feet, and transport could be expensive. Otherwise try to share in between friends whenver you go food shopping the oil expenses.
