Course recommendations:
If you want to learn about Spanish culture and history either take History of Spain with Shaw or Spanish Cultural Studies with Paco. You will get so much out of either class. Even though they give massive amount of work to do, especially Paco's class, its all worth it at the end. Also, if you want to learn Spanish, take a lot of spanish classes as well.
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
I think there should be more of a community between the international students and the american students. the american students tended to stay within there own and the international students as well. I would say an exchange program within the two groups should be created. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Make sure that you plan you schedule according to how active you plan on being once in Spain i.e. how much you are going to travel and go out. It may sound silly and I was someone who said "I can do it all" but traveling to different coutntries for 3 day weekends and partying into the morning hours in Madrid made things more stressful than necessary. just be realistic, you are not going to be home and there are SO many things to do
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
The attendance policy was really strict and while I was there they would not let you get up to use the restroom if you were in class, not reasonable. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

It was really nice because the classes are so small so you are able to recieve individual attenetion. My two favorite classes were Spanish Cultural Studies with Paco Frisuelos and Art History with Senora Carmina Galbon. Paco is VERY intelligent and makes you want to learn as well as makes the subject very interesting. Carmina is very fun, makes the students laugh a lot and has a lot of patience! I enjoyed those two particular classes very much!

Let me put it this way, don't go to suffolk for extreme insights into classes. Once in a while you will find a professor that can connect your study abroad experience to studies but unfortunaley thats not the norm. Its not that the classes are useless, just not challenging (although I realise while studying abroad this can be an advantage).
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
Get more professors that work in the real world. The business professors were the exception to the norm and really made me feel I was gaining acedemically from the courses. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Coming from GW, i felt that the courses were not up to college level. I felt like i was taking a bunch of high school courses again. But it was nice for the sample fact that, it made it easier to experience Madrid and the rest of spain, cause we had a lot of free time.
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
They only give a midterm and a final exam, and i don't believe that is a good system. There is no way to see how u are progressing through the courses, and half way through the semester is too late to fix problems. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

I suppose that it is not the Universities fault, but i was a junior in MAdrid and there were not enough classes for me.
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
I would evaluate the teachers. My spainsh teacher (I think his name was Ahern) was the Worst. I also think that the teachers were very understanding in regards to the international students. They were very flexable when it came to time off to travel. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Take as many Spanish classes as possible. You will learn a great deal about the history of Spain, and it will help a great deal adjusting to the language. Save the Business classes to the Boston campus!
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
I would try to promote more interaction between the students on the campus. People lived all over Madrid on off campus apartments and quite frequently the only time you would see other studets was during classes, or if a planned trip was scheduled. As far as the classes themselves, they were excellent and I found the professors to be well prepared and knowledgeable of thier course material. I had one business class that I was dissapointed in, but other than that my overall my experience was excellent. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

The professors didn't have us pay too much attention to the texts, I almost with I hadn't bought them. And then you can't even sell them back. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

If you have a semester to take electives.. do do study abroad. This school is great for only semester. It is very lax... which enables you to travel alot.

Take Professor Suarez Galvan and Professor Carmen for Art - they are the only two I would recommend although I heard that Shaw was good for history and there was a great Philosophy professor but who is no longer working there
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
They base everything on a two exam system and this is all or nothing - the only thing is that the students don't study so the level is about 10th grade high school and you can easily get a B without trying (Do they really count the credits you get here?)!! It is not a place to improve your academics except for a few good teachers Carmen Ana and Eugenio Suarez Galvan This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

I took the only ocurse that my school would approve for my major, so I had no choice. All of the professors are great and personable so you are set no matter what.
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
I think the work load was decent, I had alot of free time to myself. I did not feel overwhelmed with work yet I had enough to learn what I needed to learn. It is a diffrent style of learning here. More relaxed, I like it. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

This is a joke of a school. The sad thing is that enrollment is so low, you know everyone in a week and you are bored. Watch out if you have a problem with someone. It is a FISHBOWL!

Actually, most give you good grades without having to work hard. Most students are not serious, You can get away with murder and most do. Fun at the beginning but it really is a waste. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
