HOUSING

Personal assessment
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Independently - I had no other choice
If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why? Because it is the best way to meet new people
Personal comments:
I think that the accomodation is quite good in this university, perhaps not very clean, but that depends on the own students. There are several kinds of residence, in my case, i had to do interviews in order to be "accepted" in a student appartment. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

STUDENT LIFE
by miriam, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Barcelona, Spain
Telecommunications, Erasmus
Personal social experience
Describe host city: Students interact with the local community without much university involvement
Activities, Travel: Takes place mostly within the university/student environment Nightlife: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment Personal comments:
If you come to Darmstadt, you maybe like to visite some interesting architectural buildings like Mathildenhoehe, or "Waldspiral" made by Hundert Wasser. If you want to spend some hours in a nice coffe, i recomend you to go to Café Chaos, Kuk or Central Station. At night i will suggest you to drive to Heilderberg (30 min.) or Frankfurt (15 min.), Darmstadt is a little boring. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

My level before: At ease in most situations My level after: At ease in most situations How much did you improve your German?
My level before: Did not speak it My level after: At ease in most situations Personal comments:
English was the medium of instruction for our Master program. We Indians are more or less fluent in English and hence this University can be great place to study. The German language is needed for day to day life in and around the city. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

The accessibility of student needs
Main source of funding:
Government assistance Other sources of funding:
Personal savings Work opportunities:
It was not legal for me to work Personal spending habits:
I was going out more and traveling a lot more than I do in the States, but I did not have to pay for my housing, and I saved a lot of money not tipping in Germany. It really makes a difference. Travel, Nightlife, Overall: was more expensive than at home. Telephone: was the same price as at home. Food, Housing: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
The exchange rate also played a factor in spending more money. The dollar was and still is low when compared to the Euro. Tip: manage your money well by budgeting yourself each week. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
The information that i received from my home university and host university was enough. In my opinion:
Most people loved it.
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
It would help you if you know the language. An umbrella would be very useful :) FINAL COMMENTS
I think that it is a very nice experience, a good opportunity to know a different culture and to meet new people. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
