If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? It would be interesting to see how real life within a familiy takes place, but since I found some real good friends over there and they regularely took me home with them, I already got some impressions of how they live together. Furthermore there is no chance to live on a campus, because it doesn't exist. All of the students stay with their families until they graduate.

There is not a lot of place for night clubing, and the good places are only the ones where everybody just has to go because there is only two or three discotheques... in the city.

My level before: At ease in most situations
My level after: No problems in any areas (including slang)
Personal comments:
already spoke quite well spanish before. Lived half a year in Madrid for work reasons, and had 2 years theory backup from the Uni. In mexico i ofcourse improved a lot. And after my second half year of being there i can positevely say i can speak fluently spanish.

mexico is cheaper duhhh.. everything is 3 times as cheap as in holland, in general, for example air travel can be quite expensive if you cant get a good offer.
Travel: was the same price as at home.

I wish I had known...
How the city loked like !!! Hermosillo is awful !!! It is in the middle of the desert and the temperature is around 45 6 months of the year from march to september... Don not expect to find typical mexican villages here, Mexico is not here, Hermosillo is 400 kilometres from the USA. ID you want to discover Mexico, go more in the south : Guadalajara, Oaxaca....

FINAL COMMENTS

Do not expect to find typical Mexico here. Hermosillo has a lot of american influence. It is an awful city although the people here are really open minded, helpful, friendly... Come here with money to be able to travel to the US, and to the south of Mexico. But do not come here to study, the University levels are really bad...
