Course recommendations:
It is important that no matter what course you take you introduce yourself to the teacher in order to build a good rapport and get that extra help when and if you have difficulties with the language.

Personal comments:
At the Autonoma de Madrid, students are very active politically and socially. Unfortunately I was in Madrid during the Iraq war and the students of the Autonoma were strongly opposed. Ths resulted in about a month and a half of strikes in which the University was closed.

Course recommendations:
At the beginning of my erasmus, I was disappointed by the way the course are done ( very theorical, without interaction during the course...) but I adjusted to new conditions and it was better. The intercations with the students were pretty good.

Personal comments:
If I had to make a suggestion, it would be to make exams more practical (case study...). By this way, the student has the feeling that what he studies is usefull and he's not going to forget it quickly.

Course recommendations:
Well, the courses were hard, considering that I didn't have any experience in certain programming languages, my actual degree (AI) did not exist in the uni, so choosing courses were particulary hard.

Personal comments:
The faculty (La informatica) was cold, and didn't offer much social activities for the students. The place wasn't very appealing to me.

Course recommendations:
Don't think it's easier because you're an Erasmus, some teachers don't make any difference. Try to integrate a spanish group if there are group work to do, because spanish students won't naturally go to talk to you. But if you make the effort, you'll find good friends !

DO NOT ENROL IN COURSES THAT YOU WON`T BE ABLE TO FINISH. AS A FOREIGN STUDENT OUR ASSIMILATION CAPACITY IS NOT AS GOOD AS HOME STUDENTS THEREFORE THE DIFFICULTIES WILL BE BIGGER.

ASSEMENTS SHOULD BE CONTINUOS AND NOT ONLY BASED ON THE FINAL EXAM

Course recommendations:
It may be better to choose courses followed by a small number of students, as you really have the opportunity to interact in a very easy and often friendly way with teachers, who are generally interested to hear students' views.

pick many courses the first week and then choose your favourites, and have a chat with the teacher the first time explaining who you are and ask for examination

Marketing and business courses are very theorical. Not many study cases to do in groups of students.

Most courses are magistral and there is almost no interaction at all. It is a pain.

There is no such a thing like a typed sylabus... so you have to make notes by hand that means copying!! You don't see a lot in a course and you never go in depth. It stays with an overall course.

Make some typed books with all the material we have to study. It will make things easier for exchange students what to learn and mabye also an example with questions for an exam

Course recommendations:
Courses at this university are a joke. Don't bother doing any important subjects, you won't learn anything. Just take a few electives.

Personal comments:
Facilities are very old and dilapidated eg: library small and poorly resourced, computers are out of date (10 years old some of them!) and constantly broken. They could be much better organised at this as well. Enrolment is not until the third week of semester and there are no timetables so it is utter chaos to begin with and hard to work out where the hell the classes are. They force you to get your student card from one of the banks on campus which takes over a month which is bloody annoying since you can't borrow library books/do research until you have it.

Course recommendations:
As soon as you arrive get to know your ERASMUS office, and all those who work there; also become familiar with you tutor in charge of the ERAMUS students. Spain is very beauracratic so expect to fill out lots of paperwork, make sure you have all the necessary letters from your home university so that your registration in your host university isn't delayed.

You have to have a very independant personality, as all the work is left up to you. There are several outlets for information, but you have to do the work yourself.

No, the system is very different to my University in London, which was strange for me but it does work in its own way.

I found some problems throughout the courses becouse there was not information between university of Urbino and UAM; infact I tryied to get my Thesi in Spain and I start work but there was no possible an aggreement and no relation for differend kind of plan.
