HOUSING
Personal assessment
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? I like to be totally independent and have my own space.
Personal comments:
My housing in Oviedo was obtained privately and is not part of the university. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

STUDENT LIFE
Personal social experience
Describe host city: Students interact with the local community without much university involvement
Activities, Nightlife, Travel: Takes place mostly outside the university/student environment Personal comments:
Calle Mon is the main party street for students and young people. Tends to be mainly dance bars. Only 1 real club, `La Real´, which i wouldn´t personally recommend, due to overcrowding and not much variety of music. Don´t miss the carnival in Aviles Feb-March (approx. 25KM from Oviedo) This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

ACADEMIC
My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
If looking for a more intensive course it may be better to look into private academies.
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
Classes not starting till late in the afternoon seems great at first but i feel this reduces students motivation to study and encourages students to miss classes. Should also be more continuous assessments and more emphasis on oral classes. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: Spanish
Was learning Spanish a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my Spanish How much did you improve your Spanish?
My level before: Did not speak it My level after: At ease in most situations Personal comments:
I was unaware that the course was aimed towards American Student Programmes therefore due to the number of English speaking students i have found it difficult to speak as much Spanish as i would have hoped. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

The cost of living tends to be much lower than the UK. Telephone expenses are a direct consequence of living abroad. Telephone: was more expensive than at home. Food, Travel, Nightlife, Overall, Housing: was less expensive than at home.

Shop around for telephone service suppliers and keep track of spending by setting a budget. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

OVERALL
Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
That the course was going to be dominated by Americans resulting in an English speaking environment. In my opinion:
I loved it but I'm not sure everybody would.
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
Continual assessment needs to be in place and smaller class sizes. FINAL COMMENTS
Oviedo is a great city to study and live but an effort is needed if you wish to get away from an English dominated way of life. Travel: Take advantage of the opportunity to explore this part of Spain. Travel by bus, it´s cheaper than train and actually faster.
