I was a bit suprised by the electricety bill: try to keep the airco low (is hard sometimes with high humidity). Also the Gas bill took some poor savings. And you always spend more than planned.. especially with traveling!

The nightlife is very expensive in Macau, beer or entrance to a club is triple as expensive, at least! Since I only called over the Internet, I spend asically nothing on telephone. Since I wanted to see a lot in China, I travelled a lot, while at home I would never travel during my studies to far away places. But once you are in Asia you have to use the opportunities of getting really to know the country and the culture etc...

Yes, I faced problems with my bank card from home (which only works on some dispensers), and also sometimes with my creditcard. but in general you can use masterard or visa at every dispenser in Macau. I would say it is not worth to get a bank account there.

Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
Because the appartment provided to us was very good, close to university, next to all the restaurants. and most exchange studnts lived in the same block, we had access to a swimmingpool and a small gym.

I wished there would have been a proper course teaching Cantonese. Especially at the end of my stay I felt I was starting to get into it, then it was too late somehow.
