HOUSING
by skazedon, Karl Franzens Universität Graz, Graz, Austria
Education, Secondary, Erasmus
Personal assessment
Type of housing: I shared an apartment with other students
Arranged by: Independently - I had no other choice
If returning, I would choose: share a flat with other students
Why? Great to get to know people outside university. No contracts - you leave when you want.
Personal comments:
The University of Florence does not provide any accommodation at all but it's quiet easy to find something nice if you start looking early (September). Really helpful: La Pulce where you find many ads every week. People advertise free rooms also in Piazza Brunelleschi and on campus. Don't pay agencies for addresses - you can find the same in the Pulce. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

ACADEMIC
by Annelies, Universiteit Gent, Gent, Belgium
Medicine, Erasmus
My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
Well, to be honest, I didn't take any courses, I did an internship in the Careggi hospital, maybe that's why I didn't have much contact with other students...
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
An organisation to welcome and entertain International/Erasmus-students would be very usefull...Any organisation for students...they didn't seem to know what that means... This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

OVERALL
by Joel, Sheffield Hallam University, Sheffield, United Kingdom
Business Studies, Erasmus
Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
Things aren't similiar to the UK, even though you think there's be certain uniform standards because of the EU. Italy is not a nanny-state like the UK is, everything is down to you, the individual. Your victory - your praise. Your mistake - your fault. In my opinion:
I loved it but I'm not sure everybody would.
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
The University is a shambles really, diferent faculties have different standards of what theye expect from Erasmus students, the exam process is a joke and wildly unfair. But Florence as a host city is absolutely fantastic. FINAL COMMENTS
Come well prepared financially, try and save a little, it does end up being pricey (rent being the main source of drainage!), use the internet at Uni, it'll save you so much money from net cafes. Go out and socialise, it's the only way to meet Italians and improve your language, it worked for me, it'll work for you! This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
