Università degli Studi di Padova
University of Padova, Via Riviera Tito Livio 6, 35122 Padova, Italy, Padua
Description:
The Università degli Studi di Padova is the second oldest University in Italy and its traditional name is "il Bo", i.e. "the Ox". Our relationships with other academic Institutions and Research Centres the whole world over, from America to China and Australia, are extremely active through exchange of professors, information and publications. The University is in a phase of expansion and is looking at smaller towns nearby as sites for future initiatives (development of a polycentric University). Many of the students come daily to Padova from neighbouring villages and towns.

HOUSING

Personal assessment
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? I would choose to live in an apartment/house as I would go with a different purpose. Campus is very good for a student life, but as I am trying to do an internship and then a job, I think an apartment would be more appropriate.
Personal comments:
The housing I was offered in Ceccarrelli, was one of the bests I could get in Padua in a campus. I was very good impressed about it, and I consider it perfect for a student life. The only thing I could complain about, was the internet facilities, which were limited. But I think this is a problem that could be solved pretty easy. STUDENT LIFE

Personal social experience
Describe host city: Student life dominates the city
Activities, Nightlife, Travel: Takes place mostly outside the university/student environment Personal comments:
There are very few nightclubs in Padova and the ones there are are not particularly good, however on the erasmus nights were always good, banale and Fishmarket namely. All the cafes and restaurants around the arts buildings were studenty and cheap. Best pizza in town: at medina. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
Make sure that you introduce yourself to the professor and discuss whether or not you will be able to handle the course requirements. Sometimes, they can make recommendations (or even alternative ways of completing the course) if it may be more challenging due to limited language skills.

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: Italian
Was learning Italian a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my Italian How much did you improve your Italian?
My level before: Everyday knowledge (shopping, directions, etc.) My level after: Everyday knowledge (shopping, directions, etc.) Personal comments:
I've arrived this week to Padua so I'm not completely used to the italian language yet. But I've realised It's not so difficult as I thought it would be (perhaps because I'm spanish and both languages are similar). Anyway I hope to improve my italian still a lot, so I will start next week a course for it. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Personal recommendation:
There is a good student atmosphere in the town and it is well located for further travelling. FINAL COMMENTS
Try not to live with students from your own nationality and check out your accomodation thoroughly, or else end up sharing bedrooms with a stranger. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
