Università di Bologna
University of Bologna, Via Zamboni 33, 40126 Bologna, Italy
Description:
The University of Bologna is about to celebrate its Ninth Centenary. The Studium at Bologna is thus the oldest in the western world. The whole history of European universities has been profoundly influenced throughout the centuries by the University of Bologna. Evidence of this may be seen in the fact that many of the most important universities in Europe were established as a result of internal strife within the University of Bologna, or under the auspices of scholars from this University.

HOUSING
by marferde, Universidad de León, León, Spain
Agricultural Sciences, Erasmus
Personal assessment
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - I had no other choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? It's a wonderful way to meet local people and to know how Italian people live.
Personal comments:
Everybody told me it was a nightmare to find a room, but I got one the first day. It was a shared room, but my mate and I became very good friends, so I can say I was very lucky. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

STUDENT LIFE
by Marjorana, Yale University, New Haven, United States
Language, University Agreement
Personal social experience
Describe host city: Student life dominates the city
Travel: Takes place mostly outside the university/student environment Activities, Nightlife: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment Personal comments:
Gelatauro, Via San Vitale, best gelato in europe. Link, outside the city walls, near the station...alternative music, techno, less expensive than the discotechs, Trattoria Da Vito, near Coop San Vitale, really cheap and good. Via Zamboni is always happening. The Lumiere theater offers student memberships and play lots of great films This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
Worthy, espetially for extra-communitarian students (like me), to learn more about Europe and policies of European Union.
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
We had a lot of different subjects. In my opinion, sometimes is better less subjects, but more detailed then a lot of broad exams. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: Italian
Was learning Italian a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my Italian How much did you improve your Italian?
My level before: Basic phrases My level after: At ease in most situations Personal comments:
As most Italians don't speak other languages you have to speak Italian. Also among Erasmusstudents Italian is often thé language. I guess because I met a lot of Spanish people and as I don't speak Spanish and they most of the times didn't speak English, Italian was the most appropriate language. And in the end you get used to thinking in Italian and it got even quite difficult to use English after a while! This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

The accessibility of student needs
Main source of funding:
Family Other sources of funding:
Family Personal savings An ERASMUS grant Work opportunities:
I didn't explore any work options Personal spending habits:
Life is expensive in Italy, especially nightlife and as you have to enjoy every moment in this fabulous country I didn't really care this Erasmusstay was a quite expensive period in my life. Food, Travel, Nightlife, Overall, Telephone, Housing: was more expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
Give parties at your appartment instead of going out in clubs! Learn to know Italian people so you can visit them and have a cheap stay in different parts of Italy! This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
There´s nothing in particular. I wish I could live it again. That's it! In my opinion:
Most people loved it.
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
I totally recommend it, meanwhile, there´s too much Erasmus, which makes things more difficult to gather all. Exchange students were a bit sccattered by countries, and residentials. FINAL COMMENTS
I recommend it, and get the chance to travel around Italy, there´s a lot to see, Toscana, Secilia, Rome, Florence, etc This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
