Personal assessment
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: but a newer one
Why? because that is the best way to meet other international students
Personal comments:
The old students residence was pretty expensive relatively to the facilities avaiable. The food in a students restaurant was not very good and also the cleanliness of the toilets was quite bad sometimes but a new buildind was a hole new world, very comfortable and modern and almost the same price, so you should just be lucky to get the room there. STUDENT LIFE
by sabjob, Univerza v Ljubljani, Ljubljana, Slovenia
Physics, University Agreement
Personal social experience
Describe host city: Students interact with the local community without much university involvement
Activities: Takes place mostly within the university/student environment Travel: Takes place mostly outside the university/student environment Nightlife: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment Personal comments:
Caffe Belvedere, situated on a rocks with balcony, old furniture and books really temptate you to sit there all day long chatting with some friends or just reading a book of poetry. One spot next to the University library where most of the students meet at night especially weekends. Weekend were mostly organized by the local IAESTE group otherwise is would be quite boring. Language difficulties
Language of instruction: German
Was learning German a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my German How much did you improve your German?
My level before: Did not speak it My level after: Everyday knowledge (shopping, directions, etc.) Personal comments:
it was not so complicated for me cause Fribourg is two languages city (German and French) then one the two language is my mother tongue. then for all administrative stuff I could manage it in my mother tongue. about the germen the problem is that in fribourg, swiss people don't speak the "real" german" but the Swiss German which is really hard to understand This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

The accessibility of student needs
Main source of funding:
Personal savings Other sources of funding:
An ERASMUS grant Work opportunities:
I worked during my study abroad experience Personal spending habits:
Switzerland is a very expensive country... and more if you compare with my homeland. So, my budget was often very tigh, but for a student is easy to have good deals in transportation, sky resorts, food at the mensa etc... Food, Travel, Nightlife, Overall, Telephone, Housing: was more expensive than at home.

Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
Not really! Now I realize how great was my year at Fribourg, but it's true that when I first arrived I felt that the town was too quiet. You have to learn how to love Fribourg step by step.. it ends in a very deep feeling! In my opinion:
I loved it but I'm not sure everybody would.
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
If you want to have a fully experience IN an University you should seriously consider to go to Fribourg. You will have a quiet atmosphere to study, a peaceful place to live, you can have amazing experiences in the mountains, claiming, trekking and skiing.. and have fun! FINAL COMMENTS
Switzerland is a small country so you can plan week-end trips and know very well all the territory. Paris is only at 5 hours with the TGV, Northern Italy is 4 hours... everything is close! In Wintertime you can not missed any of the sky resorts, or lakes .. nature is wild and close! This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
