Mannheim is a simple place. This is to be compensated by the University, activities and community. I believe there is no difference in fun w/ internationals between countries/cities; however i.e. Berlin provides more inducements. Read Review

Facilities
Location
Cleanliness
Space
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: A room exchange
Why? Not many social activities with locals/Germans were possible aat the campus.
Personal comments:
The housing contract is tricky, watch out for housing period in the contract (usually longer than a semester) and departure details, as no rent refund is possible and significant fines are deducitble from the room deposit.

Language of instruction: German
Was learning German a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't.
How much did you improve your German?
My level before: At ease in most situations
My level after: At ease in most situations
Personal comments:
Courses were held in German and some in English. International students communicate mostly in English. I beleive there might be a any language benefit (even Russian ;), however one needs a language-buddy. It depends on the closest community from the very first days.
