Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why? On campus there is a great opportunity to get to know other students and exchange students.
Personal comments:
The campus where I was living, was the cheapest one and there were mainly exchange students and other foreigners. I know there would have been nicer places to live, but on the other hand it was propably the best place to get to become acquainted with so many other students.

Describe host city: Students interact with the local community without much university involvement
Activities: Takes place mostly within the university/student environment
Travel: Takes place mostly outside the university/student environment
Nightlife: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment
Personal comments:
The university had good parties every 2-3 weeks. You should not miss the university summer party. The new movie place is also worth visiting, it has as well nice bars and cafes. Other nice bars/cafes: Kutscherhaus, Muckefuk, Flocke, Orlando

I wish I had known...
No, I had visited the town already before and knew quite much.
In my opinion:
Most people loved it.

During my experience abroad, I ...
Became familiar with another culture
KEY:
Happened all the time.
Happened quite a lot.
Happened a bit.
Didn't happen.
Traveled
Improved language skills
Met people from other countries
Became more independent
Partied a lot
Experienced a change in life
Advanced my studies/career
Personal recommendation:
The city and also the university are not too big so you can get fast a good overview. You can have many various courses at the university and normally there is no problems with getting to the courses. In addition, the university arranges very good German courses for foreigners. At the university you have also plenty of possibilities for sports, hobbies and parties.

FINAL COMMENTS

From Siegen it is relatively short to Köln, Frankfurt and Koblenz. The way to other bigger German towns is also not impossible. I also used the possibility for interrailing, because from Germany it is much faster to go to Southern Europe than from Finland.. And if you want to meet lots of other exchange students in Siegen, you should live in Buerbach.
