HOUSING

Personal assessment
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? In order to be with other Germans and practice German.
Personal comments:
The flat was in a halls of residence that I shared with five other students (four were German). Six rooms, one common kitchen and two bathrooms. Very modern building, about twenty minutes from the city centre by metro, but far from the main campus. Wireless Internet connection available, laundry room. three minutes from the metro stop. Personal social experience
Describe host city: Students equally interact with the local and student community
Nightlife: Takes place mostly within the university/student environment Activities, Travel: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment Personal comments:
Stuttgart city's location has it own advantage, it is close to many countries and beautiful cities within Germany. One can not only enjoy the city's itself scene, but also the cities or countries nearby with a short distance travel.Don't miss any chances to enjoy the small cities rich of history and culture.Wonderful! My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
The course covers a wide range of subjects and fields. It is not enough time to grasp all the fields within two years study. One suggestion is either compacting the sugjects or prolong the course duration.

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: English
Local language was: Different than language of instruction.
Was learning English a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't. Was learning German a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my German How much did you improve your English?
My level before: No problems in any areas (including slang) My level after: No problems in any areas (including slang) How much did you improve your German?
My level before: Basic phrases My level after: At ease in most situations Personal comments:
At first it was quite difficult but the host university provides an intensive german course for free which is a very good opportunity to improve either your oral, listening or writing level ! Five hours a day and five days a week during five weeks ! It is intensive but a great experience since you meet a lot of foreign students like you. When I first arrived in Germay I could barely speak an easy sentence and after these five weeks I could have a small conversation on any subject in german ! My German roommates also helped me improve my german talking with them every day and correcting my mistakes which is the key ! It is quite hard to get to learn Germans if you don't talk to them first. Once you know them they are very nice. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
I wish I had known where my flat was: because the location was not very good. I also wish I had known better how to get to Germany (by plane)... In my opinion:
Most people loved it.
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
Talk to the teachers before you choose a course, so that you do not choose one that does not fit your level. FINAL COMMENTS
Travels : good to go to the Oktoberfest in Munick in October. It's a huge fun fair. It's also good to go to Munick to visit ! Stuttgart is not far from Swizerland and Austria so if you go to Bodensee and the Lake of Constanz make a little detour. Go to the city of Salzburg (about half an hour after the german/austrian border. Very beautiful little city. If you want to buy cheap clothes go to Metzingen (about less than an hour from Stuttgart by train) There you will find ex-works clothes. The black forest is something you must not miss. It is one of the biggest forests in Germany if not the biggest. Very beautiful in winter with snow. Freiburg is also a very beautiful city with many students. Go there if you have the opportunity. Porsche Museum, Mercedes Museum in Stuttgart... This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
