If you go through the "ÖAD" (Österreichischer Austauschdienst), it is easy and you have to worry about almost nothing, but then make sure you got enough information about the halls you selected, before sending your preferences on their website (http://www.oead.ac.at). From my experience, "Haus Doebling" is really nice (very well located, cheap, clean and great to meet people from all over the world).

was cheap and cheerful. not the place to go if you're loking to get lots of work done, as it was a party atmosphere. Also not as restrictive as UK halls. However was v badly organised by the OAD, who are hopeless; this can sometimes work to your advantage (not having to pay a deposit) but more often than not works agains you.

Good way of meeting new people. Being located in the centre of a magnificent city is brilliant. Lots of freedom.

The accommodation ranges from excellent to barely acceptable. However, most homes are in an ideal location and it's worth it for the short time we get to stay abroad. Price is also good. Exchange students get priority which is great.

I lived in Pfeilheim (a student hostel) in a double room. The location was great, you could walk to the city centre. But I had to share the toilet and the kitchen with other 30 people, who lived on my same floor. It was always very noisy and you couldn't learn concentrate and learn properly.

I was very satisfied with the housing, although it took me around 45 minutes to get to my university building.

I would have liked to live in an independent House with other Austrian Students, because it is so difficult here to meet people. And the "studentenheim" was not so clean!!!
