Université Paris II - Panthéon-Assas
Service de l'Action internationale, Aile Soufflot, esc M - 2ème étage - salle 5, 12, place du Panthéon, 75231 Paris cedex 05, France
Description:

Personal assessment
Type of housing: Independently run student accommodation campus
Arranged by: Home university
If returning, I would choose: would do the same again
Why? vibrant cosmopolitan environment - convenient for central Paris and transport - being around other students

My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
Lectures can be bit tedious, since teachers don't interact with students. More liveliness would be desirable. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: French
Was learning French a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't. How much did you improve your French?
My level before: Basic phrases My level after: At ease in most situations Personal comments:
While you had hardly french native friends outside classes we spoke mainly english among eachother. While study was in french it was hard to switch. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

EXPENSES

The accessibility of student needs
Main source of funding:
An ERASMUS grant Other sources of funding:
Personal savings Government assistance A private grant Work opportunities:
I worked during my study abroad experience Personal spending habits:
Needing a metro pass because I was in a big city, but in general Paris was much cheaper than Oxford. Spent more on telephoning because I had to call back to the UK, but then now I probably spend as much on calls to Europe! Travel, Telephone: was more expensive than at home. Food, Nightlife, Overall, Housing: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
French mobile phones (pay as your go calls) cost a bomb. Get an SFR abonnement for 6 months BUT DON'T FORGET TO CANCEL IT AT LEAST ONE MONTH BEFORE LEAVING. The process is complicated. You have to pay to see the Doctor up front. Can be very expensive. EU students should have an E128 form, you can then claim back 3/4 of costs. Keep the barcodes on any medication prescribed and all documents given by doctors and pharmacists for this purpose. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
not much In my opinion:
I loved it but I'm not sure everybody would.
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
Only go if you're sure about your knowledge of French, else you may have a hard time, especially in the working groups. FINAL COMMENTS
Paris is an expensive place, but definitely worth having lived. Also great to pick up the local tongue, even if you stay for a short while. By the way, don't miss out on the Louvre jeunes card, enabling you to visit the museum as much as you wish for EUR 30 a year. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
