I thought the foreign student program was pretty good, although the the instruction seemed a little helter skelter. I NEVER studied and still passes with the equivelant of about a 'B' grade.

I has a great time and met some great people. I was happy that University wasn't so hard that I didn't have time for a social life. Montpellier has a very large younger population, which is fun and the countryside is phenomenal. I stayed at Citadines, an apartment/hotel complex in Antigone - right off the Place de la Comedie. I was VERY thankful that I did not stay at the dorms after I saw them. They were run down, drab, drafty and depressing (at least to me).

Personal comments
Well, academic courses just have to be taken, I guess... after all, its study abroad and not holidays... I studies very little, only the few days leading up to an exam, and it was fine. Foreign students just have to mark "etudiant etranger" on their exams and the professors usually will grade them a little less tough.

Housing in Montpellier is tough. Finding your own appartment is challenging, and gave me headaches for about two weeks. If you have a chance, look for a French room mate, but don't get your hopes too high, French students tend to live alone, not with room mates. Get a phone as early as possible to call landlords once the newspaper gets out!

Montpellier is a great city for a study abroad program. The University is excellent and there are many great excursions to make on the weekends or evenings. Our class took a 45min bus ride several time to the nearest plage. We also went on day trip to the Pont du Gard, La Camargue, as well as a visit to Nimes and the cave were Roquefort cheese is made. What a great program and wonderful experience.
