HOUSING
Personal assessment
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Independently - I had no other choice
If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why? costs
Personal comments:
The room is very small but has most of the facilities one needs. However, washing machines as welll as dryers are very hard to reach. (about a ten minute walk to a place outside the campus area) The bathrooms were cleaned every day on weekdays i.e. there was no toilet paper left Staurday afternoon! STUDENT LIFE
Personal social experience
Describe host city: Student life dominates the city
Activities, Nightlife, Travel: Takes place mostly within the university/student environment Personal comments:
the clubs in Dijon are dead on weekends because all of the French student leave for home. During the week especiallly on Thursdays there is a lot going on. It is not advisible to go to club before midnight! Atmosphère and Titti Twisters are ok but not spectacular. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

ACADEMIC
My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
Get information before you get there so you know what they offer and what you want to take. Familiarize yourself with the French system! Be persistant in getting information once you get there and don't let yourself be discouraged by the reserved manner of people you might face. They have a lot do to at the university and tend to be a little bit unpatient. ( Madame Piroel of the English department is an angel and will do everything to help you!)
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
It's a little confusing to find out where the board is that has all the information one needs. They seem to be scattered all over the place. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: French
Was learning French a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my French How much did you improve your French?
My level before: Basic phrases My level after: At ease in most situations Personal comments:
I was very shy in the beginning when I was expected to say something especially as far as social life is concerned. At college the teacher correct you constantly so you get dishearted a little. I figured out after a while that my French wasn't that bad and finally started to talk and thus improved my language skills a lot! EXPENSES
The accessibility of student needs
Main source of funding:
Government assistance Other sources of funding:
Family Personal savings An ERASMUS grant Work opportunities:
I worked during my study abroad experience Personal spending habits:
I spent more because at home I don't have to pay for room and board. Food, Overall, Telephone, Housing: was more expensive than at home. Travel: was the same price as at home. Nightlife: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
Don't bring your cell phone. Get a French one. The costs are going to ruin you! This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

OVERALL
Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
That there are limited possibilities to become a tutpr at the 'Centre des Langues' and thus get unlimited internet access. I was lucky to get it a lot of the student weren't! In my opinion:
I loved it but I'm not sure everybody would.
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
get information befor you go there about academics; don't worry to much about housing; get there early i.e. at least a week before school starts FINAL COMMENTS
It was a very good experience for everybody but we were all very happy to go back home, too. It is hard to live in a foreign country but you should have tried it at least once. You will grow from this experience! This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
