Housing
Type of housing: With a family
Arranged by: Home university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
I absolutely loved my family, but I would try an apartment if I went again since I now know the city and have friends there.

I wish I had known...
I wish I had known a bit more about Bretagne as a region. It's not really your typical image of France, but it's wonderful!

Final comments
Speak as much French as possible! Don't feel pressured to travel outside of France (or even Bretagne). There's plenty to see that's close by.

Academic
Course recommendations
We were inegrated into the CIREFE program, which offers French courses to foreign students. If your level was advanced you could take regular university classes, but that was not made very clear.

It's different, but get used to it. It is better to be pass/fail, I think, than having grades transfer, since there is no allowance for cultural adjustment

Living with a family definitely helps. I spoke more English than I probably should have (just because Rennes is a rather forgotten city in terms of study abroad doesn't mean that you're the only English speaker there).
