Business Studies, Erasmus
Personal assessment
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why? because it's good when you're new in a town, there are other students also from abroad. the university was near
Personal comments:
the same like in Germany for me, but arrange it early. otherwise there will be only very small rooms This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

STUDENT LIFE
by styssi, Europa-Universität Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder), Frankfurt am Main, Germany
Business Studies, Erasmus
Personal social experience
Describe host city: Students equally interact with the local and student community
Activities, Nightlife, Travel: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment Personal comments:
music bars are better then night clubs, e.g. Coco Lobo, there you can eat spanish and later you can danse, Latin and french music This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

ACADEMIC
by styssi, Europa-Universität Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder), Frankfurt am Main, Germany
Business Studies, Erasmus
My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
ask for the notes of french students, because specially in the beginning it's hard to follow everything
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
it's okay, not as hard as I was thinking. there are small classes, a lot of group work. you have to come to the lessons. there is not so much liberty like in german universities, but that's okay This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: French
Was learning French a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't. Personal comments:
In the beginning it is difficult of course, especially concerning normal life...but you have to meet french people, go out a lot, speak with them, they also learn languages... This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

The accessibility of student needs
Main source of funding:
An ERASMUS grant Other sources of funding:
Family Work opportunities:
I didn't explore any work options Personal spending habits:
I spend mote than at home because the two first academic yaer I was in a hall of residence more expensive than on a french campus. I travelled more than at home because Metz let a lot of appotunities. It is close to the luxembourg, german and belge borders. I spend more because the standar of living was expensive than in Spain. Travel, Nightlife, Overall: was more expensive than at home. Food, Telephone: was the same price as at home. Housing: was less expensive than at home.

OVERALL
by styssi, Europa-Universität Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder), Frankfurt am Main, Germany
Business Studies, Erasmus
Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
that I get to know my boyfriend, with whom I'm together already 2 years ;-) In my opinion:
Most people loved it.
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
there are not so many foreign students, a lot of Germans, so if you are German, don't meet Germans, but French I did my "Maitrise en Science de Gestion" althougt I wasn't perfect in french before FINAL COMMENTS
If you're a student, you have to go abroad, you have to plan everything a little bit but it's a great experience and the best way to learn the language. You will become more independant and you learn a lot about yourself. Tip: Go a lot to the movies, afterwards stay in contact with some people to write Emails and letters, so you never forget the language... For your room or apartement you recieve money from the french governement, ask the student organisation AEMI, they help you. The first day you are in Metz you have to register in the office of the town, I forgot about this, but ask your tutor at your host university, it's important to go!!
