Personal recommendation:
Academically good, excellent opportunity for learning language, activities good but absolutely no night life on campus. Accomodation at uni not to everyone's taste but all who wanted found flats in town.



FINAL COMMENTS

Make the most of the mountains and go ski-ing, I would kill to be so close again! Good for visiting in summer too apparently. The grand prix is good in the summer term. Make the most of the time there, it will go quickly, relax and enjoy!

Personal recommendation:
Pau is in a great location - near the mountains, near the beach. The town is fairly quiet but the social opportunities are there if you make the effort.



FINAL COMMENTS

Have fun, travel lots, speak plenty of french and snap up any opportunites you're offered. You may not get the chance again.

Pau is a nice city, even though there are palm trees it still gets VERY cold.

I would recommend Pau for the price, but if you are thinking about culture- go to Paris.

Studying through USAC was 3 times more expensive than if I would have directly enrolled in the university on my own.

Do not pay a program such as USAC thousands of dollars, but try to arrange the year abroad direstly through the universite. The only difference will be $$$$

That the course was going to be of little interest to me. Go early to find accommodation, it can make such a difference.

They have a specific department for foreign students and are very helpful with settling in: if in doubt, ask Christine (if she's still there)



FINAL COMMENTS

If driving, use Portsmouth-St.Malo. Societe Generale were very helpful and understanding about my lack of finance lingo. Establish a local and get to know the patron: Pau is small and everyone knows everyone and the patron can open lots of doors.

That the weather in Pau isnt usually too hot until June, after i had left!!!

It was a nice university but there isnt much to do in the town, unless you are considering travelling, which we found best and more interesting!

Everything is on campus, taxis are very rare, make sure you take medical insurance as you have to pay for everything!!!

Nice campus, good facilities, plenty of cultural and sport activities, parties on campus, possibility to get engaged politically, in environmental activism, theatre

Great location in the south of France, people are very friendly there. A lot of Erasmus-Students.
