HOUSING
by luis, Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Lisbon, Portugal
Economics, Erasmus
Personal assessment
Cost
KEY:
Couldn't have asked for more.
Pretty good.
Could've been better, but didn't lessen the overall experience.
Disappointing.
Facilities
Location
Cleanliness
Space
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why? its better in the first months, to meet people, but after a few months i think its better to chage to an apartment, to get more independence
Personal comments:
i have a single room, and i have to share the bathroom with another guy. the room costs 100 euros/month its a good room , a bit small, but sufficient, and has a litlle fridge.

Personal social experience
Activities
KEY:
Amazing! Hardly had time to study.
Plenty to do when I had the time.
So-so.
Did not get involved.
Nightlife
Travel
Overall
Describe host city: Students interact with the local community without much university involvement
Activities, Nightlife, Travel: Takes place mostly outside the university/student environment
Personal comments:
Bar to head for an Aperitif: Bar Walter, Bar Circus (!Great free buffet in both of them!), Bars around Piazza Unità In summertime best discos are outside town: Lignano, Grado, Sistiana, people even head for croatia: Portarosa,... At the "Barcola" on the beach of Trieste the small bars offer service till the last person has gone to sleep...!great atmosphere!

ACADEMIC
by luis, Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Lisbon, Portugal

My academic experiences
Quality of courses
KEY:
Fantastic.
Pretty good.
Could've been a bit better.
Disappointing.
Variety of courses
Availability/access to resources
Interaction with teachers
Interaction with other international students
Interaction with local students
Course recommendations:
If you go only one semester you have a very little choice of couses, but you can do anual courses. for economic erasmus students its very easy to get a good mark.

My opinion of the university assessment
Exams at end of course
KEY:
Liked it.
It was alright.
A bit annoying.
Didn't like it.
Exams throughout the course
Essays and/or projects at the end of course.
Essays and/or projects throughout the course
Overall
Personal comments:
more interaction between erasmus students and local students

Sometimes it was difficult.
It was a constant struggle.
Educational
Administrative / Institutional
Overall
Language of instruction: Italian
Was learning Italian a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my Italian
How much did you improve your Italian?
My level before: Did not speak it
My level after: At ease in most situations
Personal comments:
the first month I always speak portughese and spanish with other erasmus students. But after it I started to speak with italians and people who speak italian, so my italian became improved. the best way to learn is to speak from the first day.

EXPENSES
by Gisela, Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien, Vienna, Austria
Economics, Erasmus
The accessibility of student needs
Second-hand text books
KEY:
Very easy.
Minimal effort.
Accessible but required effort.
Almost impossible.
Second-hand household items
Computers / Internet
Administrative
Money from home
Main source of funding:
Family
Other sources of funding:
Personal savings
An ERASMUS grant
Work opportunities:
I didn't explore any work options
Personal spending habits:
Nightlife and travel expenses have been cheaper, but in general I consumed more than at home because I travelled and went out more often than at home
Telephone, Housing: was more expensive than at home.
Food, Overall: was the same price as at home.
Travel, Nightlife: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
It is cheaper to drink wine than beer and you save up to one Euro if you consume your drink at the bar instead of sitting down. As books are hardly available in the library it is better to borrow them from another student and to copy them in the copy shop
