If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? I live together with two Italians in one apartment. That helped me a lot to improve my Italian language skills. On the other hand I really appreciate that I am not living together with a family because I feel more independent.

I personally cannot complain about the accomodation that was organised for me through the host university.
