HOUSING

Personal assessment
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? I was fortunate to have a beautiful apartment, at a discounted price. I also had the advantage of German and other nationality flatmates. There was a real international feel to the apartment.
Personal comments:
Low-cost, spotless, extremely spacious apartments, the only disadvantage was its position - we had to take two U-Bahn connections to get to university. However, this only took about 15 minutes, and a discounted semester ticket was provided. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Language, Erasmus
Language difficulties
Language of instruction: German
Was learning German a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my German How much did you improve your German?
My level before: Everyday knowledge (shopping, directions, etc.) My level after: At ease in most situations Personal comments:
I participated in a 'tandem-partner' scheme, which comprised of pairing up with a native German speaker, who wanted to improve his/her English language skills. We met in social situations, and took it in turns to speak either German or English. This was a massive advantage, as the situation encouraged natural conversation, and was encouraging if you felt nervous or uncomfortable speaking another language.
