If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? i found it was the best place to stay, i had contact with germanas and learned the language fast. I have known quite nice people
Personal comments:
I lived for a month in a student residence, although it was not so bad, as quality standards, i chose to move to a flat where i could have more contact with people

travel can be expensive if u choose public transportation, but private travel can be easily arranged and is cheaper
Travel: was more expensive than at home.
