Why? When the university arranges housing, the rent is too expensive.

Seems like they arrange housing for foreign students out of profit rather than to help.

Try to get housing in "el barrio" which is the old part of town, which is the most beautiful and also most vivid part of the city. Most of the good bars are there too.

I learned a basic knowledge of spanish which has helped a lot later, for example travelling and working in Mexico, and now, as I'm going to barcelona.
