Description:
Coming to its 5th centenary soon, the old "Estudi General de Valčncia" initially dedicated to the study of medicine, humanities, theology, and law has become a modern European university today. Given the wide range of studies offered as well as its human dimension, the University of Valencia is one of the largest, oldest, and most varied Spanish universities.

HOUSING
by Katrin, Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz, Mainz, Germany
Journalism, Erasmus
Personal assessment
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - I had no other choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? Sharing a students-apartment I lived together with other young people including native spanish speakers. It`s was the best way to know a lot of people and to improve my spanish.
Personal comments:
I had no accommodation at the University. Generally the "collegio mayor" are more expensive than normal apartments. And there are a lot, so it´s not hard to find one. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

STUDENT LIFE
by Schnitzer, Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, Erlangen, Germany

Personal social experience
Describe host city: Students interact with the local community without much university involvement
Activities: Takes place mostly within the university/student environment Nightlife, Travel: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment Personal comments:
All the clubs at the beach. The best party I have ever seen in my life is in March (it is called "Fallas"). The best nightlife you can find in the streets "Juan LLorens", "Avenida Aragón" and "Calle Caballeros". This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
Maybe you want to choose some of the courses in English. Especially Econ courses (like Microeconomia) taught in Spanish are not so easy.

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: Spanish
Was learning Spanish a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my Spanish How much did you improve your Spanish?
My level before: Did not speak it My level after: At ease in most situations Personal comments:
In the begining it was dificult because I couldn´t speak a word but after an intensive course of Spanish and thanks to the fact that the universitycourses also were in Spanish it went easier. I had no choice but learning it because it is the only language that they speak in spain This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

OVERALL

Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
No, not really. I like to find out things on my own. In my opinion:
Everybody loved it, you will too!
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
More integration with local students. FINAL COMMENTS
Make sure you have some knowledge of Spanish before going, so you will be able to find yourself a place to live. Live with Spaniards as it offers you the possibility to speak and understand the spanish slang as domestic terms. Also you get to know the culture and domestic life better. Speak Spanish with every one straight from the beginning even when it seems impossible. Travelling is rather cheap with an international student card. During eatern you should visit Andalusia as it is very green and tempature is bearable in the cities.
