Its a nice place. I like the people and their mentality as well as the food including the French Fries (Belgian invention)and really good food. The city is small enough to find one's way arroung and large enough to have fun. The Erasmus-office team is really good as well as the Erasmus student network (ESN). For travelling: Brussels, Antwerp and the cost are close. But also Rotterdam, Paris and Cologne and London are not too far. The weekends may be boring at fist, because everybody goes to his/her parents'place. The students are mostly pretty young (18-23)and student life sometimes seems weird or very teenage-like. The courses are very school-like which is good for Erasmus-students because it is easier to find one's way around but it does not always seem to be real academic (whatever my notion of that means) because students get told what to do and do not need to take too much respansability. But there is also students who really get involved a lot.

The hard way of fighting exploitation and the sweatshop - dirty boots of gendarmes and exploiters, foul language of double-dealers and liars

Full version of the review: https://rentry.co/hwfesdb

This review focuses on various common issues in universities and international science. This is xenophobia, nationalism, corruption and discrimination in universities, the higher education system and technology corporations. These problems are relevant for international students and "new arrivals". The theme of corrupt officials, bribery bureaucrats, political businessmen, sycophants, nationalists, racists and ultranationalists is touched upon. This review is made in the context of various negative phenomena encountered in the system of education and science. Foreign students and "newcomers" can meet various "speculators in souls", "toadies of the capitalists", "serfs of the gendarmes and security forces" and "henchmen of the rich".

This review is devoted to the topic of militarization and "democratization" in various regions of the world. It discusses the development of capitalism and nationalism in science and the education system. Today, various leading universities are actively involved in these processes.

Nowadays, a university like Ghent University is a typical example of a successful university. This university actively promotes its academic programs and participates in a worldwide research network.

Similar prestigious universities exist today in various wealthy regions of the world. The situation is similar in many other universities. This review, critique and analysis is applicable both to areas of the world under the control of wealthy people and to other parts of the world under the rule of exploiters.

At the moment there are two opposing points of view. Depending on the point of view, one political bloc includes "free" and "pseudo-democratic" countries, and the other - under the yoke of "dictators" and their "totalitarian" governments. Needless to say, opposition political and economic blocs hold opposing views. Today, the attitude towards the "aggressor countries" and "Mordor" in different rich countries is almost the same. Not surprisingly, the countries with the highest GDP, the most institutionalized countries and their allies speak the most about Mordor.

World gendarmes and rulers of the world are interested in developing new military equipment, new technologies and selling weapons to other peoples and countries. Among other things, the goal is to speed up the economy super-fast and, of course, fill the pockets of the rich and their companies with money.

POSITIVE:

- This academic environment, these social circles and their activities are well funded. Generous sums of money and grants come from the state, capitalists, rich people and large organizations. Support comes from the governments of wealthy developed countries and leading technology companies.

- Examples of "window dressing" can be found on the official websites of various organized events and conferences.

- Outwardly, all things and everything looks neat, good, cultured and civilized. In fact, this often hides skeletons, lies, window dressing, a beautiful image, demonstrative love and sucking up to officials, colorful advertising and an attractive outer shell for others.

- Despite many disadvantages and shortcomings, there are many honest, hardworking, friendly, warm and kind people here. But they do not "decide the weather." They do not make independent decisions in many important situations. They do not make key decisions in the current political and economic situation.

NEGATIVE:

- Successful capitalists, top students, engineers, professors, administrators and successful careerists in this environment have selfish and self-centered mindsets. This is the mindset and behavior of political hucksters, bouncers, scammers, snitches, liars and selfish consumers. These are careerists with the mentality of a winner, "rich man", even with the mentality of "murderer" and "executioner".

- In many important situations, this is a place with the laws of the jungle. No mercy, no pity can be shown to the weaker, defenseless, disabled, as well as to various "new arrivals" from "Mordor" or any people from the "aggressor" countries.

- In order to get something, positions, professorships, high positions, promotion, dissertation defenses, diplomas, certificates, these people constantly complain, repeatedly and many times ask, beg, threaten, blackmail. They collect and share dirt, insults, negativity and unpleasant things about people from Mordor, people from the "axis of evil" and "new arrivals".

- All "strangers", "new arrivals", "new settlers" should be severely punished and discriminated against if they want to complain about something. The same is true if they have any key questions or want something. The life position of the "new arrivals" should be submissive. They must always obey like "dogs" or other pets. They must come to terms with their position in this new "rich" and "prosperous" life.

- For decision makers, big bosses, "tribal" leaders, professors and engineers, collective intimidation and individual blackmail are common tools. For them, "new arrivals" is a computer or board game. In case of failure, they simply want to "restart" the computer or "start" a new game after a pause. For "geniuses", "bosses" and their henchmen, mockery of "new arrivals" is a game, a pastime, a collective and individual sport. It is even such a noble game as golf, cricket, tennis or hockey.

- "New arrivals" and "recruits" are given the lowest wages, the worst working conditions, the worst jobs and the lowest positions. Immigrants and foreigners receive the lowest wages, the lowest income and the worst living conditions. They occupy the worst residential and working premises. Local “blacks”, “new arrivals” and immigrants do all the dirty work, and it is emphasized that their place is next to garbage and slop.

- To communicate with both local discriminated and exploited people, and with "new arrivals", a finger is used, showing them their "dog place".

- In a modern capitalist society, various nationalists, careerists, egoists and swindlers are moving up the career ladder. They get better jobs and higher wages.

- Some people, even professors, engineers, top students and members of the administration, just hate everyone and everything.

- There is a whole class of people with bad habits. Too many people, even professors, engineers and students, are alcoholics and heavy smokers.

- Smoking, mixing different types of alcohol, and drinking alcohol for relaxation are all common and normal.

- The typical answer to all suggestions and ideas is a resounding "no".

- Local superstars and big bosses want nothing to do with "vulgars", "liars", "spies" and "thieves". Residents of "Mordor", people from various "bad" countries and people from the countries of the "Axis of Evil" are a huge problem in the modern consumer society. All these people are available in an endless stream of human resources and constantly want something. And so it will always be.

- Perhaps if you complain a lot, beg and ask again and again, local superstars and big bosses will change their minds and say “maybe” to your ideas. Certificates, passports, stamps, formal documents and how everything will look on paper are the most important things and the most important factors in making many decisions.

- Various phobias, endless nationalism and selfishness in this environment are the norm. They are also often encouraged and supported. Many cases of window dressing, discrimination, xenophobia. Often militarism, racism, sexism and ultranationalism have no logical and reasonable boundaries.

- Today, militarism enjoys great support in different countries. Society is becoming more and more militarized.

- In various positions there are pro-militarist activists, various academic clowns, hooligans and xenophobes. Especially such people are dangerous in high positions.

- Aggressive propaganda and support for monetary relations and capitalism is widespread. Capitalists enjoy fame and luxury. Their security forces and their armies receive endless streams of funding. Their supporters, followers, lackeys and henchmen receive active support and assistance.

- In such an environment, successful leaders, politicians, various local superstars and local celebrities are very good at manipulating, intimidating and blackmailing. The same type of behavior is followed by people in academia and universities.

- Local celebrities and superstars teach the same behavior to others, their followers, students and devoted followers. Some of these superstars have large Padawan groups.

- There are local superstars and successful people who are liars, blackmailers, scammers and dastardly bouncers. Today, political demagogy in the media, on television and on social media has become the gold standard. Toilet humor and salty sexist and racist jokes are the norm.

- Various successful people, local stars and famous people are more interested in what happens in the "toilets". Many people are more interested in "personal secrets of people", the topic of personal life and health, than joint work, study and research.

- Local political activists, superstars, even professors, engineers, top students and prominent figures at various events and on various occasions can insult, slander and intimidate people for purely political reasons.

- Whatever you have said or what people think you have said at some point may be an excuse to harass and intimidate you.

- The motto, the line of action, the key to the success of the exploiters is to aggressively intimidate both local residents who are subjected to discrimination and exploitation, and all people from the “aggressor countries”.

- Some local superstars think that if they do nasty things, say nasty things to this or that person from the "aggressor country", they will get a promotion. “New arrivals”, weak people, disabled people, national minorities, people from “bad countries”, residents of Mordor and “not ours” are all second and third class people.

- Many local celebrities and superstars are less interested in studies, advanced technologies, science and more interested in who is dating whom and who is "wife and husband" to whom. For some famous local stars, professors, engineers and top students, teamwork and collaboration is the least of their worries.

- High salaries, money, promotion and getting a new position for these people is one of the most important things in life, if not all. Ordinary people are just bolts and after use they are simply removed as evidence and signs of "hard and dirty work."

- Almost the motto of the local bohemia and wealthy people: "We support and give money to our loved ones, friends, real men and women." The Knights of Liberty and Democracy support people under any conditions: "Even if they are liars, executioners, murderers and scoundrels, they are our scoundrels and they are ours."

- Today such leaders, politicians and bosses are ready to tear everyone and everything for "democracy" and "freedom". They are ready to help and support the knights for a just cause and the leaders of friendly countries for the truth and "real values" in every possible way.

- There is a hierarchy of nationalities, as well as well-known nationalist and capitalist values. There are predefined "correct" nationalities and "wrong" nationalities that are "not politically correct".

- Whether "our friends" are allied terrorists or allied militants and paramilitaries, it doesn't matter as long as they are our allies and do the "right thing". Today, politicians of the rich world, world aggressors and gendarmes, capitalists, their armed forces have created a combat-ready war machine.

- Today rich people, capitalists are merchants of souls and political merchants. This type of people, their lackeys and henchmen support the unipolar world and its propaganda machine.

- In the capitalist world, the media, social networks spread and support the lies fabricated by the unipolar world. The media of the capitalists and their world gendarmes received universal means of managing people. Today, the military in the capitalist countries have essentially betrayed their people and their interests.

- Such a unipolar world is becoming more and more shaky and unbalanced in relation to some kind of core. The capitalists and their world gendarmes have built a world war machine out of lies. Such people today control the world and the political system. They control this war machine and the flow of false propaganda that they use to make money and for their own benefit. The current situation discriminates against multicultural people and people who speak different languages.

- Today the elites, political leaders, capitalists, industrialists are a society of swindlers, liars, thieves, political demagogues and vulgar bouncers.

- Capitalists, militarists and industrialists exploit and divide people into nations and nationalities. But they do not care about racial, social and cultural differences when they are engaged in their business schemes, gray affairs or illegal activities. People of different nationalities, cultures and races together open joint-stock companies, corporations, successfully run a profitable business. Together they deceive and rob the poor or hardworking, honest people who are discriminated against, exploited or oppressed with impunity.

- Selfishness and the priority of monetary relations is especially noticeable in the capitalist countries, the rich part of the world and their allies.

- There is no doubt that the "orcs, trolls and goblins of Mordor" are much kinder, more honest and nobler than the lords, knights and warriors of light, the empire of goodness, democracy, justice, truth, prosperity and wealth. Their warriors of goodness and light have all their hands in the blood of innocent victims.

Modern, diverse and promising

The University of Ghent is a beautiful school to study at. The first days are a bit difficult because of the transition from secondary school but the teachers, employees, and students know how to make a student feel at home. The study level is very challenging and makes you well-prepared for the big world.
What I like the most, is the environment which encourages diversity and durability. Ghent is a very diverse city to begin with and is called the "bike city" because of the low emission zone in the center, where no cars are allowed to drive. All in all, it's a modern, diverse and promising university where I have enjoyed my stay.

Nothing really in particular. It might be advisable to start making contacts for housing before arriving in Gent itself, in case you are doing this particularly.

If you are planning on going for an international experience, you might already know this, but it helps a lot to interact, since the beginning, with as many other groups of people as possible. They will help you overcome most of your problems initially (all the small bureocracies) and become excellent friends and travelling partners later on. The social life was perhaps the most important part of my exchange experience, so be prepared for meeting new and different people from a lot of other places. Guranteed fun! ;)

Travel : This was very good. The cities where old, lots of history, art. Ghent is also in the center of Europe. So this is your chance to travel in Europe, like going to London, Paris, Amsterdam. Only thing, it is so cold overhere!

Organizational and Industrial psychology at the University of Ghent
Camille B
Belgium, Graduate
Psychology and Behavioural Sciences, 2018
Overall
Currently I'm completing my masters in Organizational and Industrial psychology at the University of Ghent. I'm really glad I follow those courses at the university of Ghent.  Our university scores really high in the international ratings, also for psychology. I learned so many interesting topics of psychology, I would definitely recommend this course. Besides going to university, there is a great student life in Ghent, there are many cosy bars, restaurants and so much more.
