Description:
In 1632 the Athenaeum Illustre was founded in Amsterdam to educate students in Trade and Philosophy. As the establishment was not a proper university yet, lessons were generally given at the professors' homes. Until the nineteenth small institution with no more than 1877, the situation changed when the Athenaeum Illustre became the Universiteit van Amsterdam and was permitted to confer the highest educational degrees.

Its good to buy Museum Card - it costs about 15 euro but later on entry is free to most of the museums in the Netherlands. Its really worthy. Its better if u will find accomodation through your host university because otherwise it will be difficult to find a place. Amsterdam is very crowdy:) Read Review

Everything is more expensive than in my home country so there is no suprise that I spent more:)I was traveling much more than in my own country - I took an advantage on beeing in new place - so I wanted to know it better.
Food, Travel, Overall, Telephone, Housing: was more expensive than at home.
Nightlife: was the same price as at home.

Nothing especiall. Information for students going abroad for Socrates/Erasmus exchange is very good, they provide students with every needed info about host country and uni.
