Description:
The Parliamentary Resolution of 9th April, 1946, formally established the University of Bergen. By European standards the University of Bergen is a young university. However, its academic roots are deep. Research and teaching have long been fields of activity in Bergen's Museum, which was founded as far back as 1825.

Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? I would like to share a house with norwegians in order to better learn the language.

No, it wasn't. Was learning the local language a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my knowledge How much did you improve your English?
My level before: At ease in most situations My level after: At ease in most situations How much did you improve your local language?
My level before: Basic phrases My level after: Everyday knowledge (shopping, directions, etc.) Personal comments:
Improving my skills in norwegian was one of my motivation to go to Bergen. Therefor I followed an intensiv language course during the first semester and chose some university courses in Norwegian during the second semester. I did improve my norwegian but did not have enough opportunities to speak with nativ speakers, most of my friends being exchange students as well. OVERALL
Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
I knew the country quite well before going so I did not experience any difficulties in Norway. In my opinion:
Everybody loved it, you will too!
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
The most interesting lectures are in Norwegian and even though the University offers a program in English I would say that knowing the local is a plus on a academical point of view. FINAL COMMENTS
Norway is very expensive so people with a erasmus scholarship must be ready to make some compromises in order to live there. It is a beautiful country and it is worth travelling if we have the opportunity. The social life there is really great. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
