University of Bath
University of Bath, Claverton Down, BA2 7AY Bath, United Kingdom
3.89 / 5 based on 114 reviews.
Description:
Bath is one of the smaller universities in Britain, supporting a hard-working, hard-playing community. There is a predominant sense of participation across campus - social functions are usually sell-out affairs; music, drama and the arts are all flourishing; and there is a justifiably proud record of achievement in sport.

HOUSING
Personal assessment
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Home university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? my professor arranged accomodations for us at the University of Bath, and we ended up at the medical school dorms, which were across town from the main campus. We had to share these with medical students who were in the middle of exams, and they got annoyed with our noise and our frequent late nights.
Personal comments:
It would have been much better to have our own space, because we would have been less in the way. Since we had such a large group studying abroad (about 40), we could have rented apartments short term. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

STUDENT LIFE
Personal social experience
Describe host city: Student life dominates the city
Nightlife, Travel: Takes place mostly outside the university/student environment Activities: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment Personal comments:
There were so many places to go in the town of Bath: The Rabbit and the Farrot, Forum Firken, and Beaties were places we went more than once, but there were many others to choose from. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
We only took business courses, and compared to the way we learned in the US, there was so much less interaction in the classroom. The professors basically lectured the entire time, and there was no application of material. I think that is just the way things are taught in the UK though (according to my friends who go to school there).

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: English
Was learning English a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't. Personal comments:
Communication was fairly good, considering that we pretty much speak the same language. However, sometimes I felt like some English people thought less of us since we were Americans, and they made comments to that effect. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

OVERALL
Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
I wish I thought more about the size of the group that I went with. I would have had more interaction if there were fewer people in my group from the states, which would have been nice. In my opinion:
Everybody loved it, you will too!
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
I recommend this university. The people know how to have a good time, and if you give them a little while, they open up. Also, it is a good school. FINAL COMMENTS
