HOUSING
by Fernando, ,
Business Studies, Independent
Personal assessment
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? I rather live in the city centre. the Jarratt Hall building was great to party and meet people but it was overpriced with the downside of limited internet service provider Damovo Connect which gave 200mb a day... and people got banned when passing the limited bandwidth. the water was a bit limited sometimes.
Personal comments:
Overall, it was very enjoyable. met a whole bunch of people but the overpriced situation was a bit discouraging. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Describe host city: Students interact with the local community without much university involvement
Activities, Nightlife: Takes place mostly within the university/student environment Travel: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment Personal comments:
In Birmingham you can do all the sports you like. The rugby team is really good. You can found arround the campus ( even inside) a lot of pub ( noisy ). For the For more quiet you can find sone pub in Edgbaston. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: English
Was learning English a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my English How much did you improve your English?
My level before: Basic phrases My level after: At ease in most situations Personal comments:
At the begging I passed some bad time, I couldn't understand almost anything, but then I have improved my English. Now that I'm not speaking any more as before I'm losing what I have learned, it's a pity. That's why I need to have new experiences aboard. Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
I would have studied a better programme, for instance a MBA instead of a MSc. in Manufacturing.I am not happy with the quality of the taught programme. In my opinion:
Everybody loved it, you will too!
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
I think English Universities see the academic experience as a business making money, they ask you for money for all the things (Imagine overseas students paying 10000 sterling pounds for the Master that later on have to pay 35 pounds for a compulsory course of the Master. It seems ridiculous, this money it is not included in the 10000 pouns, it has not style. The level of the programme is not very high. FINAL COMMENTS
I extremely recommend the experience of studying abroad, you meet interesting people from many countries, you are independent, you can find a job easily. The academic experience has not been very interesting and challenging for me, almost all the subjects I hd studied them during my degree.
