Personal assessment
Cost
KEY:
Couldn't have asked for more.
Pretty good.
Could've been better, but didn't lessen the overall experience.
Disappointing.
Facilities

Cleanliness
Space
Type of housing: With a family
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: With a family
Why? Best opportunity to practise language, plus to know people and establich long-term contacts.
Personal comments:
I lived at four different places over two years. Only the last one was really good, with two friends at a spacious house. Otherwise, whether sharing with a group of seven or with my landlady, there were problems with the cleaning or the price.

KEY:
Amazing! Hardly had time to study.
Plenty to do when I had the time.
So-so.
Did not get involved.
Nightlife
Travel
Overall
Describe host city: Students interact with the local community without much university involvement
Activities: Takes place mostly within the university/student environment
Travel: Takes place mostly outside the university/student environment
Nightlife: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment
Personal comments:
Night life, travel and sport activities (!) as well cost a bit, so experiences depend on available founds :-l I would advice to buy sport center membership card, 40 pounds, gives opportunity to join many sport activities. Good movies in East Art Cinema as well as in student's cinema. Very well organised student union.

Overall
Language of instruction: English
Was learning English a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't.
Personal comments:
Bradford is a city in Yorkshire, which means terrible accent. However, with a little help of good will from yorkshire citizens you can work it out ;-)

EXPENSES
by pasieka, Politechnika Slaska, Gliwice, Poland
Engineering, Civil, Erasmus
The accessibility of student needs
Second-hand text books
KEY:
Very easy.
Minimal effort.
Accessible but required effort.
Almost impossible.
Second-hand household items
Computers / Internet
Administrative
Money from home
Main source of funding:
An ERASMUS grant
Other sources of funding:
Family
Work opportunities:
It was not legal for me to work
Personal spending habits:
'cos everything is more expensive. The food in markets is simmilar or even sometimes cheeper, depends on what you are able to eat ;-) Of course if not cooking by your own expenses for food rise. Very expensive traveling.ADIVICE - buy a good map and go hitchhike !
Travel, Nightlife, Overall, Telephone, Housing: was more expensive than at home.
Food: was the same price as at home.
Personal comments:
Open an account in a local bank - cash bonus guarantee (50 pounds?). For international calls use cards you can buy in phone shops. Bring a car if you want to travel a lot. If planning to travel a lot by coaches buy a coach-card. Never use trains :-) Sometimes 2 pounds more for b&b is much better choice than youth hostel. Travel by hitchhiking, it works thoug many people say it doesn't.

I wish I had known...
Bradford is not very typical city of United Kingdom. I wish I had known about the things I'm writing here ;-)
In my opinion:
Everybody loved it, you will too!

During my experience abroad, I ...
Became familiar with another culture
KEY:
Happened all the time.
Happened quite a lot.
Happened a bit.
Didn't happen.
Traveled
Improved language skills
Met people from other countries
Became more independent
Partied a lot
Experienced a change in life
Advanced my studies/career
Personal recommendation:
Completly different education system - worth to see it. Multi-cultural university - go there to fell like in Grece, Pakistan, India ... ;-) Level of education is getting lower and lover ... :-l
