HOUSING

Personal assessment
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? Well it depends on the purpose of the stay abroad. As a student, it was good being in a building with others students. An apartement would probably be in the future more convenient, although I would not mind sharing the accomodation again.

STUDENT LIFE

Personal social experience
Describe host city: Students equally interact with the local and student community
Travel: Takes place mostly within the university/student environment Nightlife: Takes place mostly outside the university/student environment Activities: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment Personal comments:
The 5 story disco,Mecca,Radhost fx, and duplex are clubs not to miss out on. The cafe on campus was the cheapest and the best quality of food. The mexican places to eat there were decent also. Visit as many clubs as you can, Prague has an amazing night life, and a fantastic university environment. Prague castle was also great eye candy. ACADEMIC

My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
The teachers all took into account that most foreign students do not primarily come to study, but to travel a lot. Therefore, courses were not hard to pass at all. If you're looking for a challenge, this is not the best place to go. However, if you want to see Europe, this is a good place to go.
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
Could be more challenging. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Was learning English a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't. Was learning the local language a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my knowledge How much did you improve your local language?
My level before: Did not speak it My level after: Basic phrases Personal comments:
If you are not familiar/ have had no exposure to with Slavic Languages prepare for a some huge culture shock. Most of the admin here spoke English, and most Czech students were willing to jump in and help if they saw you struggling. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

I worked during my study abroad experience Personal spending habits:
The student dormitory was very cheap way to live. Travelling wasn't so expensive but I travelled quite much because Prague is so central in Europe and it's easy to travel from there. I spent the same amount of money for food but I ate more often in restaurants than in Finland. Travel: was more expensive than at home. Food, Nightlife, Overall, Telephone: was the same price as at home. Housing: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
There are expensive touristplaces in the center (like restaurants) but it's possible to find cheaper ones a bit further from the center. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Personal recommendation:
before you go you should try to sign up for the buddy program..that really helps the first days, since somebody takes care of you..somebody who at least knows the language.. FINAL COMMENTS
Overall it was very good semester. I met a lot of new friends and learned a lot about other cultures although it did not really bring me a lot further with my studies. But still a time worth spending. The whole of Eastern Europe is wonderful to travel in. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
