HOUSING

Personal assessment
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Home university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? I would choose to rent an apartement at the same place (La Mancha apartements) because many exchange students used to live here and that's the best place to meet a lot of people coming from different parts of the world.
MOreover, I was sharing my flat with two south american roomates which allowed me to improve both my english and my spanish!
Personal comments:
The University of Florida offered a lot of housing possiblities for students and all of us could live decently thanks to the wide variety of prices in residences or houses. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

STUDENT LIFE

Personal social experience
Describe host city: Student life dominates the city
Activities: Takes place mostly within the university/student environment Nightlife, Travel: Takes place mostly outside the university/student environment Personal comments:
UF just has amazing facilities for every kind of sport. Gainesville is really a "college town" as everything or almost gravitates around campus and University activities. The night life is really good either downtown or midtown. Going at least once at Grog's House on Wednesday night for ladies' night is a must-do in Gainesville. My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
Concerning the graduate course, choose in advance if you want to have the choice. The course are very good and there is a lot of work!! But it worth it! The professors are very accessible and ready to help you specially if you are a foreigner. There are goods libraries and cmputer labs opened all night!
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
Concerning the graduate courses, it would be better if there were more schedules. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: English
Was learning English a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my English How much did you improve your English?
My level before: At ease in most situations My level after: No problems in any areas (including slang) Personal comments:
My home university in Paris provide 50% of courses in English, so I had no problem in understanding teachers. It was more difficult with people my age since I was not at ease with slang at the beginning. After a couple of weeks, I was able to understand easily any kind of situations. The accessibility of student needs

Other Other sources of funding:
bank Work opportunities:
It was not legal for me to work Personal spending habits:
In general I spend more money there because, first, the currency is stronger and life is more expensive there than in France. As I was a foreign student, I wanted to know better my host country. So, with other friends, we travelled a lot around Florida principally but also in New Orleans, and California. Food, Travel, Nightlife, Overall, Housing: was more expensive than at home. Telephone: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
There is alot of cheap stores for food, clothes like "Savealot", "ROSS"... and the best is cooking at home instead of spending alot in fastfoods! It is healthier and a lot cheaper!! and it is easy specially if you live near the university. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
I was glad I did not know a lot. Because of this i had not much expectations and could not be dissapointed easily In my opinion:
Everybody loved it, you will too!
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
Please organise something more for the international students. I found them by myself but only from my own country and study field. it would have been nice to meet more international people. This was the only thing I missed in my whole experience FINAL COMMENTS
I had the best time of my life. If you ever get the chance to go, do it!! And don't worry about the money too much. The US is expensive, but you can better enjoy the money you spend than think about it all day. Travel tip: Miami!! And of course Orlando with all its parks.
