HOUSING
Personal assessment
Cost
KEY:
Couldn't have asked for more.
Pretty good.
Could've been better, but didn't lessen the overall experience.
Disappointing.

Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? Because sharing a house in England is pretty cheap and it gives you independance. Plus, it enables you to meet new people.
Personal comments:
I didn't find a room through Uni but through the internet, and I was really happy about what I found.

Personal comments:
The Footage in Oxford Road is both a modern and typical young pub where you can have a good time with your new friends. I'll miss Market Street with all its shops :) and the Frapuccino from Starbucks, as well as St Ann square with its library...

Overall
Language of instruction: English
Was learning English a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my English
How much did you improve your English?
My level before: At ease in most situations
My level after: No problems in any areas (including slang)
Personal comments:
Well, before leaving France, I only knew what my teachers had taught me, from books, in high school and college. After 8 months there, I really had the chance to get the real oral English, and the course I went to improved my grammar... So it was pretty balanced, and then I managed to get the local accent !

Personal spending habits:
In general, nightlife and all the cultural aspects are a bit more expensive than in France, but not too much, and anyway it's easy t get a cheap flat with a nice flatmate, there are many cheap foodshops as well ... so in the end, if you're budget is a bit short like mine, it's possible not to spend too much if you make good choices.
Nightlife: was more expensive than at home.
Food, Travel, Overall, Housing: was the same price as at home.
Telephone: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
I couldn't open an account in a bank !! Fortunately I was paid cash so I didn't need to withdraw too much money from my French account, but it wasn't a pleasant surprise.
