HOUSING
Personal assessment
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? While on-campus accommodation helps to develop friendships with other students, having already established a strong base of colleagues in Manchester,I would prefer the flexibility of apartment living
Personal comments:
The Fallowfield campus at the University of Manchester was very centrally located, and I had no problems getting to/from class and the city centre. Additionally, the accommodation halls always provided many interesting social events and engaging activities. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

STUDENT LIFE
Personal social experience
Describe host city:
Nightlife, Travel: Takes place mostly outside the university/student environment Activities: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment Personal comments:
Manchester has the largest student population in Europe, so naturally there are many places that cater to the university crowd. While I cannot choose a single spot, Manchester is a city filled with numerous gems of bars, restaurants, and night clubs. I particularly enjoyed going to Matt and Phred's, a jazz club in the Northern Quarter. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

ACADEMIC
My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
Be prepared to sit in a very large classroom with hundreds of other students, especially at the undergraduate level.
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
While I acknowledge that this may be difficult given the number of students, more interaction with the professors would greatly help motivation and understanding of the course material. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: English
Was learning English a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't. Personal comments:
As this was an English-speaking university, I had no problems whatsoever. Additionally, the management of the University of Manchester seemed very well organized and suited to deal with any issue. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

I didn't explore any work options Personal spending habits:
The UK is a fairly expensive country, and at the time the USD/GBP exchange rate was extremely high. Travel, Nightlife: was more expensive than at home. Overall, Telephone, Housing: was the same price as at home. Food: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
Nightlife can cost more than you realize - always set a weekly budget and make sure to stay within it! This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

OVERALL
Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
It is very difficult to change programmes of study, most of the time this requires restarting at the first year level. In my opinion:
Everybody loved it, you will too!
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
Decreasing class sizes and making professors and advisors more available would make a huge difference in the academic success of students. FINAL COMMENTS
Overall, the University of Manchester was an excellent institution; I definitively grew as a person and learned a lot along the way. I would recommend this institution with the caveat that it sometimes becomes far too easy to spend too much money on nightlife. Make sure you budget carefully and you will be fine.
