HOUSING
Personal assessment
Type of housing: First on campus, then off.
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? When I lived oncampus I felt cramped, I shared room with one girl and bath with seven others, so I moved off after only one semester and didn't regret it. But it is better to live oncampus if you don't know many people, you make friends faster.

STUDENT LIFE
Personal social experience
Describe host city: Student life dominates the city
Nightlife: Takes place mostly outside the university/student environment Activities, Travel: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment Personal comments:
Main street Chapel Hill has it all, just go off campus and you hit it, it is the first street you get to. There are coffeeshops, bars and restaurants, most of them are good. Bandidos is a good Mexican Place, "He's not here" a nice bar, but there is something for everyone. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

ACADEMIC
My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
The general curriculum courses varied in level and interest, but at the School of Journalism and Mass Communication the courses were good, the teachers had a lot to give and since we had small classes we got a lot of guidance.
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
More projects and perhaps a required internship. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: English
Was learning English a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my English How much did you improve your English?
My level before: Everyday knowledge (shopping, directions, etc.) My level after: No problems in any areas (including slang) Personal comments:
The only real problems I had was with locals from small places down south, the southern drag took a while to get, but now I get it and can even pass for a local, "let's go down yonder, yaw'll!". This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

EXPENSES
The accessibility of student needs
Main source of funding:
Government assistance Other sources of funding:
Family Personal savings Work opportunities:
I worked during my study abroad experience Personal spending habits:
Less on food and nightlife because it was cheaper, so although I ate and drank well it was not expensive. Phone was not cheap, especially not longdistance. I traveled more than usual, so that got expensive, and when I moved off campus I still paid $100-200 less than at home a month. Travel, Telephone: was more expensive than at home. Overall: was the same price as at home. Food, Nightlife, Housing: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
I would get a bank account right away, shop at yardsales instead of secondhand shops and compare prices on internet, cable and phonedeals. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

OVERALL
Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
Not really, it all came to me pretty quick. In my opinion:
Most people loved it.
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
I do recommend it, I think it is great in some courses of study, like journalism, but in every case one should check out the school or deparment to go into before chosing. FINAL COMMENTS
In any case, I think exchange and study abroad widens your perspectives, and I hope it helps in getting a job! This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
