Personal social experience
Describe host city: Students equally interact with the local and student community
Travel: Takes place mostly outside the university/student environment Activities, Nightlife: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment Personal comments:
The Down Under Bar, is the best, but in the CBD there's lots of night spots where you can have fun. Any cafe in Queen Mall is the best. EKKA festival, you must go, it's amazing! This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

ACADEMIC

My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
Try to avoid any courses which have only been running for 1 or two semesters. They will probably be very unorganised. Also, be weary of courses which have the word 'International' in their name. It's only branding to attract a higher fee. Lastly, make sure you complain if the course sucks. If you're international, you're paying big money. I don't think the Uni has realised that it has to deliver to the international students, and many courses I did were just frankly badly organised and badly taught. Some of the CORE courses I did were a joke. But, if they are Core/compulsory courses, it's hard to get out of them…even if you think you would learn more in elective courses. I would ask other students about their experiences with specific courses before you finalise your subjects.
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
There was a SERIOUS lack of guest speakers/ guest lecturers (zero in two years). I am doing a masters course in business economics yet there were no 'big shots' from the business world speaking to us about REAL issues as apposed to academic theories. I found this to be most disappointing. The university is marketing to international students and claims to be a centre of excellence, but its not delivering. I found my undergraduate degree at the University of Dundee substantially better in terms of organisation and content; there were frequent guest lecturers. Language difficulties
Language of instruction: English
Was learning English a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't. How much did you improve your English?
My level before: At ease in most situations My level after: No problems in any areas (including slang) Personal comments:
It was a very good exercise to be inmersed in all that english 24 hours a day, that way I could become even more fluent and have more confidence when talking and writing. It was an excellent experience. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
I wish I had known that living in a house was safe enough so I wouldn't have spent all the money I did in the UNILODGE. In my opinion:
Everybody loved it, you will too!
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
Don't have any recommendation. FINAL COMMENTS
Travel as much as you can, if you're from Europe think that Australia is far far away and you never know if you'll be able to go back. Take advantage of every situation, go out at night, go to the UQ choir QUMS (if you like music), if you do so, I assure you0ll meet lots of very nice people and you'll even make those friends for a lifetime. Use the advantages of the Student Card for the Public Transport it'll cost you half the price than average. Don't think it twice and share a house or a flat, with other students, it'll be a lot of fun. But if you have enough money and you want to have the city very very near (by that I mean to be just in the very middle) then rent a room in UNILODGE Brisbane, because I promise you won't regret it.
