University of Strathclyde, George Street 50, G1 1QE Glasgow, United Kingdom
Description:
The University of Strathclyde was founded in 1796 as Anderson's Institution. From its foundation the University was different from the other, much older, universities in Britain; it aimed at a wider range of students and a broader variety of subjects, especially those concerned with 'useful learning'. The University of Strathclyde has two campuses: the John Anderson Campus in the centre of Glasgow, where the Faculties of Arts and Social Sciences, Engineering, Science and the Strathclyde Business School are located, and the Jordanhill Campus, with our Faculty of Education, in the west end of the city.

Personal assessment
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? to be closer to the local people. if you stay in the campus you only see the uni world.
Personal comments:
There is plenty of information in the exchange office about housing and also in the yellow newspaper you can buy in the shops. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

STUDENT LIFE

Personal social experience
Describe host city: Students interact with the local community without much university involvement
Nightlife, Travel: Takes place mostly within the university/student environment Activities: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment Personal comments:
Avoid Jumping Jaks like the plague, although it can be tempting with the a free bus to take you there and free champagne at the door. But its trashy as hell. For clubs: I like ABC (good indie gigs, good music, huge venue) on Suchiehall St. especially on Thursdays/Fridays, Buff Club (good DJ's, great atmosphere)on Suchiehall Lane specially on a Sunday, Art School on Renfrew St. for very cheap Saturday nights, and of course the Strathclyde Union (great theme nights, so close). The Garage is good for a drunk cheesy laugh, especially on Sunday/Monday nights. Use Be-lo in moderation...there's a lot of shady people there and the scene can get old. But good on a Wednesday. Basically you could go out every night and have an amazing time. Be sure to check out Ashton Lane in W. End too...like Wodka Vodka. For PUBS: Nice n'Sleazy's has great open mic nights on Mondays. I also really like Bunker, Revolution, 13th Note, Bloc, Kushion, Stavka, Underworld. Check them out. Very good night. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Yes, I wanted to improve my English How much did you improve your English?
My level before: Everyday knowledge (shopping, directions, etc.) My level after: At ease in most situations Personal comments:
I was in Scotland and the accent there is pretty different comparing to the "normal" English. Sometimes it was very tough to understand some scots. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
